The Reddit, now Twitter, user - Dolphins1925 - is mentioned in the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter .
In this piece, Dave Meltzer once again confirms that 'The Reddit Guy' has a genuine source within World Wrestling Entertainment.
There were five things covered in the article that I'd like to address.
1.) WWE does not know who Dolphins1925 or the informant are
That is completely understandable because, like Dave Meltzer noted, if somebody had been found out, there would have been a firing.
2.) There were a few websites that listed predictions claiming to be from Dolphins1925 that turned out to be incorrect
On Sunday, and one day earlier in the week, I made three posts where I guessed what Dolphins1925's picks would be by checking out the betting odds at 5Dimes.com. I prefaced that they were guesses I had come to by viewing who the favourites were in the betting. At that point in proceedings, I was still blinkered into believing that that was how Dolphins1925 was using as his source. There were probably many other websites that posted false Dolphins1925 spoilers, WWELeaks.org was not one of them.
3.) The Reddit Guy said that there were match finishes changing up to the last minute
Dave Meltzer confirmed that that was what was being said to talent even though no match finishes ended up being changed. More on this later.
4.) On Twitter - Del Rio, Wyatt and 'Frate Train' were giving out as spoilers
These three were given out by the Twitter handle that Dolphins1925 has publicised on Reddit although the credited tweet of 'Frate Train all the way' (Frate Train being an MMA message board name for Brock Lesnar) was either deleted or made by one of the false accounts. The tweet I read from the username was 'I have just received word Brock Lesnar will defeat CM Punk'.
5.) There was no late betting made by WWE employees in the last three days before SummerSlam
I'm not disputing that WWE employees didn't bet in this time frame. However, I have a feeling that the memo about Vince McMahon changing finishes 'on a whim' that was passed on to The Reddit Guy may have made it to others long before Dolphins1925 posted what he did on Reddit. The case I make for arriving to this conclusion is that there was a significant shift in the odds on some of the underdogs. Between the hours of 3pm and 4:30pm EST, John Cena had shortened from +1400 all the way down to +700, Christian was +1300 at 1pm and within two hours he was down to +315. I originally thought it may have been people betting on underdog babyfaces because Rob Van Dam had gome from +500 on Saturday to +130 just before his match. Knowing what I know now about the match finishes possibly being changed, I find it hard not to wonder whether the odds changing was a byproduct of the information that was being relayed to people like the Redditor.
