I have been tracking the WWE Royal Rumble 2014 betting odds since they were first posted late Tuesday / early Wednesday and have noticed the changes in the lines. The overnight jump in odds leads one to suspect that the smart money has landed in all but one match.
First, let's take a look at the undercard.
The Rhodes Brothers are set to take on the New Age Outlaws in the pre-PPV show. The Rhodes' started off the betting period as -260 favourites but had slowly drifted out to an underdog role. On the last check last night, I noticed them available at odds of +155 with the Outlaws a favourite of -195. In these few hours the odds on the brothers winning the match looked even more unlikely as they are now marked up at +1000 (11.00 EU, 10/1 UK).
The New Age Outlaws are -2000 (1.05 EU, 1/20 UK).
The Big Show has been an underdog for his match against Brock Lesnar since the betting opened. He started off at +650. On yesterday's check, he was available at a price of +3,000. He now stands at +10,000 (101.00 EU, 100/1 UK).
Brock Lesnar, who started off at odds of -1,350 and was -11,000 last night, is now -50,000 (1/500 UK).
There has also been a swing in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.
John Cena started off at +400. This number has fluctuated over the course but settled on +325 yesterday evening. As of right now, he is listed at +1,000 (11.00 EU, 10/1).
The overwhelming favourite, Randy Orton, has gone from -600 and is now trading at -2,000 (1.05 EU, 1/20 UK).
The most interesting odds shift centres on the grudge match between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt.
When the lines were first posted, Bryan was a -260 favourite. He remained at this price all the way through the betting period. As of right now, he is listed as a +400 (5.00 EU, 4/1 UK) underdog.
Bray Wyatt, who opened up at +180, is now at -600 (1.17 EU, 1/6 UK) with the sportsbook.
There doesn't seem to be anything major to report in regards to the odds for the 30-man battle royal other than it appears people are betting on both Batista and CM Punk.
Similarly, for last month's Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, the odds for the main match didn't make any major shifts until the 12th hour. It could be a repeat occurrence this time around.
With that noted, here's how the Royal Rumble is currently looking:
Batista from -140 yesterday to -350 (1.29 EU, 2/7 UK)
The Field versus Batista +100 yesterday to +250 (3.50 EU, 5/2 UK)
CM Punk +750 to +550 (6.50 EU, 11/2 UK)
The Field versus CM Punk -1580 to -1050 (1.10 EU, 2/21 UK).
I will return later on today with another look at the 5Dimes lines.

I can forget about my Cena bet now, as I never knew that the match had to finish with a pinfall or submission. Surely, that makes Orton a cert to win??
ReplyDeleteI am always reluctant to call 'certs' because anything can happen between now and match time.
ReplyDeleteTotal assumption here so if anyone else is reading this, don't bet on it..
They could end up with John Cena's father in peril and Cena has to submit in order to save him. That way, they have Orton win dirty and still have Cena look strong.
Very true, anything can happen. I put 150 euro on Batista to win @ 4/6 earlier at Skybet. I feel that he is just too much of a big name not to be in the main event at WM30. Wish me luck:-) P.F.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteCena was never going to win this match...and according to the odds its exactly the reason why........the only one you might get up on one of the betting companies is daniel bryan to win!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso whats the reason for the odds to change that drastically....the only thing i can think of is the fact someone knows the results and has wagered alot of money on the ones who are going to win right?? wyatt went from +250ish to -600 and new age outlaws went from -130ish to -2000
