If betting patterns continue going the way they're going, Randy Orton could end up being the favourite to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Money in the Bank tonight.
As of right now, The Viper is +200 (3.00 EU, 2/1 UK) with the 5Dimes Sportsbook. Sure, he's playing the role of second-favourite to John Cena, but his price dip is intriguing.
Orton opened at +600 when individual participant prices were first published yesterday. When I made a final observation of the odds late last night, he had drifted out to +700. As noted, the Saturday money has landed on him as the book has now cast him in second at the +200.
The 5Dimes movement has also had a ripple effect on the British/Irish bookmakers.
At midnight, the wrestler was 7/1 with SkyBet.com but was off the board at PaddyPower.com.
He is now available at odds of 2/1 with both firms.
It's also worth noting that 5Dimes' market where bettors can wager on 'The Field vs John Cena' has also been moving with the selection going from +420 to +250 (3.50 EU, 5/2 UK) in the same period.

I saw this article on Lordsofpain.net-perhaps it will shed some light on why punters are backing Orton:
ReplyDeleteThere was also talk of doing a possible swerve at Money In the Bank with Orton winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title, leading to Reigns vs. John Cena vs. Orton at Battleground. That would have been when Cena wins the title to set up Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam
Personally, I can't see the WWE giving Orton the belts- he would stick up the place! Orton is ball-achingly boring!
I read that the two Battleground matches were going to be Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton and Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose.

...Stink up the place, I meant to type... So if Reigns is meeting Orton at battleground, that should mean that Orton is fodder for Reigns until Summerslam when he faces HHH. Going by this information, it is safe to assume that Orton will not be awarded the title at MITB!
