How The WWE Battleground 2015 Prop Bets Fared

Last weekend - during the WWE Battleground 2015 betting frenzy - two sportsbooks published a handful of prop bets alongside the regular match markets.

These prop bets allowed the customers to punt on things like a referee being knocked down in any match all the way up to The Undertaker making an appearance or not.

In this post, I'll take a look back at what was on offer and note how the markets would have been settled.

A Referee To Be Knocked Down In Any Match

I had a good feeling that this one would come in. Alas, it didn't.

Had it won, customers would have been paid out at odds of 5/2 from the Betfair Sportsbook.

If only they had drawn up prices for 'A Referee to vanish into thing air as the lights go out'.

Money in the Bank Briefcase To Be Used As A Weapon In Sheamus .vs. Randy Orton Match

This was another market written up by Betfair. I wasn't confident on this one. The 7/4 odds may have tempted some, but I was right not to bet on it.

There was a time during the early part of the match where I noticed the case was by one of the posts. I thought there was a good chance it would come into play later on, but it didn't,.

Sheamus To Cash In The Money in the Bank Contract

The Paddy Power Sportsbook had this one covered. The traders were initially taking 4/1 on the 'Yes' and 1/8 on the 'No'.  By Sunday, the betting had evidently gone the way of the 'Yes' party as they had caused the oddsmakers to cut the price to 3/1.

As we now know, Sheamus is still holding his immediate title shot. The 'No' bettors were the winners here.

Total Number Of Title Changes On The Show

Betfair was giving customers four options when the market opened:

None 9/2, One 1/1, Two 8/11 or Three 7/2

By Sunday, the 'One' option had shortened to 10/11 and 'Two'  was 4/6. The winning bettors would have been those that went with 'None'.

I was on the wrong side here. I was banking on two title switches (New Day and Kevin Owens) with a slight lean on 'One'.

Total Number Of German Suplexes In The Main Event

The Betfair Sportsbook had set the line at 5.5 with 'Over' 8/11 and 'Under' at EVENS.

In my write-up in the late afternoon of the show, I went with the 'Over'. It was a winning prediction as 'The Beast' took his foe down with his move a total of thirteen times.

The Authority To Interfere In The Main Event

Paddy Power had 'Yes' at 1/2 and 'No' chalked up at 6/4 on Sunday afternoon. The 'No' takers had moved the odds from the 7/4 they were a day earlier. They were right to take the odds as no member of The Authority were involved in this one.

A SummerSlam Match To Be Announced During The Show

I was sure this would come in. WWE had been doing this for the past few PPVs as a way to entice new sign ups to stick around for another month.

Those, like me, who took the 7/4 on offer from Betfair lost their bets.

Dean Ambrose To Make An In-Ring Appearance

Paddy Power was taking action on Dean Ambrose making an appearance at any point during the show.

The 'Yes' had opened at 1/8 but was 1/3 by Sunday. As a result, the 'No' bettors had moved the price from 4/1 into 15/8. They would have been the customers cashing in as Ambrose was not on the show.

Sting To Make An In-Ring Appearance

Paddy Power originally had 'Yes' priced at 7/4. This was re-adjusted to 11/5 with 'No' drifting from 2/5 to 3/10.

I suggested taking the 'No' as I thought having Sting and The Undertaker on the same show as surprises was too much. My gut feeling proved correct as he didn't show up.

The Undertaker To Make An In-Ring Appearance

I was all over this one. Both Betfair and Paddy Power were accepting wagers on The Undertaker making an appearance with Paddy Power even taking bets on him not playing an in-ring role.

I had taken Paddy Power's 6/4 on the 'Yes' when I first saw the market had opened. The odds were 4/9 by Sunday afternoon. However, Betfair was offering a more rewarding EVENS at that point.

The 'No' bettors would have lost even if they had taken the 5/4 Sunday offering from Paddy Power.

Hopefully, there will be a few prop bets out when the SummerSlam 2015 markets are released in the near future. As per usual, I'll go through what is on offer for fans to bet on and then take a look back once the dust - and bets - have cleared.
