A strong promo by Paul Heyman hyping the SummerSlam 2015 main event on last night's episode of Monday Night Raw has evidently prompted gamblers to punt on Brock Lesnar.
In a post published yesterday, I went over the match markets at the three major sportsbooks taking bets on the Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker match with the intention to see whether anything on last night's episode of Raw prompted any betting action. I returned this morning and noticed the odds for Lesnar have shortened slightly at one of the betting websites.
At 5Dimes.com, 'The Beast' has dropped from +360 to +300 with The Undertaker still favoured to pick up the win albeit now with odds of -420. He was -540 yesterday.
My opinion on how this will go has been swaying since the match was announced.
I initially thought it was going to be a spot for The Undertaker to get a win back (it's worth noting he hasn't won against The Undertaker on any PPV let alone WrestleMania XXX), so I was certain he would be the victor.
I then started buying into the idea that Brock Lesnar will be victorious so that it could set up a bigger match between the pair at next year's WrestleMania.
The release of bwin's SummerSlam main event finish markets then had me contemplating the result ending in a disqualification for either man. It wouldn't be the first time Lesnar versus Undertaker was booked to finish in a DQ. The pair fought to a double-DQ in their first ever PPV outing back at Unforgiven in 2002.
Now, following last night's promo, I'm back on the 'Undertaker to win' side. I am sure I'll change my mind many more times between now and SummerSlam, though.
