The first round of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament has just kicked off on the episode of Raw that's currently being taped in Manchester.
I've been browsing through Twitter and I have noticed there is a bracket. So, in this post, I'll look at the possible ways this could go.

As the left section indicates, Roman Reigns has already progressed after defeating The Big Show.
Cesaro and Sheamus will more than likely end up going the way of Sheamus as Roman will need to wrestle a heel in the quarter finals.
Alberto Del Rio will surely defeat Stardust. It's also a safe bet that Ryback goes over Kalisto.
On the right, Titus O'Neil will surely lose out to Kevin Owens.
Neville should win against Barrett leaving Owens and Neville to face-off in the quarters.
It's the final two first round matches that are intriguing.
I can see it going in a few directions from here.
With Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze in a feud, I can see either one of their respective matches ending with some sort of distraction finishes which will play out in the following round. This could lead to Owens progressing with a bye in the semis.
Or, the logical option is to have the two friends - Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose - going at it in the final.
From a betting perspective, the ones to watch are Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens.
I don't think I needed to go through the process to reach that conclusion!
I commented for this post a couple of days ago that they might delay putting it on Reigns a bit longer, and now I see the same speculation in the Observer. I think this was a valid comment that deserved to be published.
ReplyDeleteThor,
DeleteYour comment suggested that the original 'rumour' was that Rollins was going to drop the title to Roman Reigns at TLC. This was not the case as Dave Meltzer said himself on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that he had it confirmed to him that the original plan was to have Reigns win it from Seth Rollins at the Survivor Series.
As for seeing the same speculaton in the Observer. This is incorrect too. This week's Observer - which will cover the entire Rollins and WWE Championship saga - isn't going to be published until tonight, so wherever you're getting your Observer information isn't from the horse's mouth.
I respectfully ask you to no longer comment here as you evidently aren't happy with how I do things.
For the record, here is the comment that wasn't passed:
DeleteWould have loved to read your predictions for the 1993 KotR tournament :)
Only thing I'm wary about is that one rumor had Reigns winning the title against Rollins at the TLC PPV. This is one argument for Ambrose winning I guess. I don't see Ambrose in and around the title picture after RR.
