More On The Rock And WrestleMania 32 From A Betting Perspective

The Rock has been busy on Twitter responding to news outlets reports that he'll be appearing at WrestleMania 32.

I'm following his interaction with people on the social media platform both as a wrestling fan and as a punter to try and read into what he's saying to gauge whether it's leading any hints to gain an edge on any WWE betting markets that are still active (he's still 66/1 to win the Royal Rumble with Ladbrokes if you think that's the direction they'll go)

Before the announcement, I've stated numerous times that I was on the 'Triple H will win the Royal Rumble' train until I saw anything to make me change my mind. Dwayne Johnson's announcement is enough to make me second, nay triple, guess my stance.

The previous episode of Raw has now led me to believe that Triple H will return on the January 4th episode and interfere in the Roman Reigns versus Sheamus match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

It's safe to now assume that the Triple H versus Roman Reigns match will take place at the Royal Rumble.

That's me off the train!

As for the Royal Rumble winner, I'm now leaning heavily on my second pick - John Cena. I've backed him at 10/1 with bwin.com and also have a few pounds on him with WilliamHill.com at 9/1.

But, what about The Rock?

As soon as he announced he was being a part of WrestleMania, I took the 6/4 that he'll wrestle Triple H and also the 13/2 that he'll go up against Brock Lesnar. Both bets were placed with Unibet.com (it was also available at 888Sport.com and 32Red.com.)

I might be over-analysing Johnson's remarks on Twitter, but I think the two bets aren't going to cash in.

And here's why.

He's using hyperbole like 'Got some next level sh*t planned' and I personally cannot see how The Rock versus Triple H or The Rock versus Brock Lesnar is 'next level', I've lost count with how many HHH versus Rock matches I watched in the late 90s to early 2000s.

And we've seen Rock versus Lesnar in 2002. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

I'm thinking they're heading towards that match that was originally planned: The Rock and Ronda Rousey versus Triple H and Stephanie.

That's 'next level sh*t' right there.

Another thing he's hyping is the fact he'll be 'making history'. And he will. They've set the goal to break the indoor attendance record at Cowboys' Stadium.

A mixed tag team match in the main event of WrestleMania will be just as historic.

I could very well be on the wrong track let alone the wrong train on this. There are a handful of things working against this theory of mine. The main one being Rousey's availability for the show. She has film commitments, a rematch against Holly Holm to think about and also the fact that Dana White has point blank shot down any talk of her doing WrestleMania while being affiliated with the UFC.

What ever happens, I hope it turns out to be the 'next level sh*t' we're being promised.

Otherwise it could be... sh*t.

  1. I thought exactly the same as soon as Vince made the announcement. Stacking the deck against the face usually results in the face winning. So does HHH wait until after the match to attack Reigns? Surely, he would want Reigns to lose the title that night. Or maybe he causes a dq & its Reigns/Sheamus again at the Rumble?

    1. I thought they'd do that with HHH failing to help Sheamus on Raw and in the title match at the Royal Rumble so, as a last resort, he comes out in the thirty spot to win the battle royal.

That's not looking likely now, though.
