WrestleMania 32 Prop Bet: Royal Rumble Winner To Leave As WWE Champion?

There's an interesting WWE WrestleMania prop bet available from Unibet, 888Sport and 32Red where customers of any of the three bookmakers can bet on the Royal Rumble winner being WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the end of WrestleMania 32.

The 'Yes' has been given odds of 1/7 but the 'No' at 15/4 might be more appealing. This, of course, depends on who wins this year's Royal Rumble.

If Roman Reigns ends up with the strap any time between now and WrestleMania, then I am of the opinion that whomever wins the Rumble and goes on to face Reigns at the April event will end up losing to The Big Dog.

The company is attempting to position Reigns as its number one star and the only way they can do this is by having him on top at the close of its biggest show of the year.

With that noted, if Roman Reigns is tasked with the challenge of being a Royal Rumble winner for the second consecutive year, then the 'Yes' could be the right choice, but that's the only option where I can see next year's Rumble winner becoming champ at WrestleMania.

It's a strong lean on the 'No'.

For what it's worth, here's how Royal Rumble winners have performed after winning a WrestleMania title shot.

1993 - Yokozuna went on to win the WWE Title from Bret Hart, but lost it to Hulk Hogan immediately afterwards.
1994 - Bret Hart was a joint winner of the '94 Royal Rumble along with Lex Luger. Hart went on to win the strap from Yokozuna.
1995 - Shawn Michaels failed to defeat Diesel at WrestleMania XI.
1996 - Shawn Michaels won the WWE Championship from Bret Hart.
1997 - 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin won the Royal Rumble under controversial circumstances. He was not in the WrestleMania 13 title match.
1998 - 'Stone Cold' went on to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania XIV.
1999 - Vince McMahon was the winner in 1999, but did not wrestle for the title at Mania XV.
2000 - The Rock was awarded the 2000 Royal Rumble win, he was featured in the WrestleMania 2000 main event but did not win the title.
2001 - 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin won his third Royal Rumble. He went on to WrestleMania and won the the title.
2002 - Triple H won the Royal Rumble and defeated Chris Jericho at WrestleMania X8.
2003 - Brock Lesnar won in '03 and claimed the strap from Kurt Angle at Mania X9.
2004 - Chris Benoit won the Royal Rumble and the title match at WrestleMania XX.
2005 - Batista won the 2005 Royal Rumble and left WrestleMania 21 as champion.
2006 - Rey Mysterio won in 2006 and became world champion at WrestleMania XXII.
2007 - The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble and defeated Batista at WrestleMania XXIII.
2008 - John Cena won the 2008 Royal Rumble and used his title shot at No Way Out (he lost). However, he went on to the main event of WrestleMania XXIV but did not leave as champion.
2009 - Randy Orton won in 2009 but did not leave WrestleMania XXV with the title.
2010 - Edge won the 2010 Royal Rumble but failed to defeat Chris Jericho for the title at WrestleMania
2011 - Alberto Del Rio won in '11 but failed to unseat Edge for the World Championship
2012 - Sheamus was the victor in 2012. He went on to win one of the world titles from Daniel Bryan
2013 - John Cena won the 2013 Rumble and defeated The Rock for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 29
2014 - Batista won in '14 but didn't leave WrestleMania XXX with the title.
2015 - Roman Reigns failed to leave WrestleMania XXXI after winning the 2015 Royal Rumble

That's eleven out of twenty-three Royal Rumble winners who haven't gone on to leave WrestleMania as a world champion. That's 48%, so the 'Yes' does win the stats even if I am leaning to the 'No' in 2016.

The above market is available at the three websites, but the image is taken from 32Red's WWE Betting Markets.
