How 5Dimes' Rumble Odds Have Changed Since Yesterday

With the January 4th edition of WWE Raw closing with the announcement that Roman Reigns will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Royal Rumble battle royal, it didn't take long for bettors and oddsmakers to favour Reigns winning in less than three weeks.

Over here in the European books, Reigns became the bookmakers' favourite to leave Miami with his, pardon the pun, reign intact. The same can be said of the off-shore sportsbook, 5Dimes.com.

The Casino and Sportsbook has had a Royal Rumble themed market available since the latter part of December. In it, customers can wager on 'Brock Lesnar wins the Royal Rumble' or 'The Field wins the Royal Rumble'.

Before Raw, the 'Brock Lesnar wins' selection was being offered at +180 while 'The Field' was favoured at -260. As of 7pm GMT this evening, 'The Field' is -350. This indicates that the sportsbook's customers are going for 'Anyone But Lesnar' at this point in the proceedings.

For what it's worth, Brock Lesnar is currently priced as a +250 outsider to win the match. He'll be on next week's episode of Raw, so I wouldn't be surprised if fair-weather wrestling bettors will start backing him then.

It wasn't just the Royal Rumble market that changed overnight. Other markets have seen action.

The second market on the board is taking bets on the winner of the Rumble being  a first-time or a previous victor.

The 'Previous Winner' selection has been backed from -350 to -530 in a day while the 'First-time' price has bettered from +250 to +350. This makes sense considering the potential winners of 2016 have all been there before.

Finally, the market where customers can wager on Rey Mysterio's record of 1 hour 2 minutes and twelve seconds being broken in 2016 has seen the 'To Be Broken' price drop from +550 to +400.

My assumption here is that the clients may have suspicions that Roman Reigns will be inserted into the number one slot to put him in more of a disadvantage. The fact that the market where customers can wager on the first entrant being the winner has dropped from +600 to +400 helps to somewhat confirm this assumption.

Another thing that works in favour of there potentially being a Rumble length being broken is due to there not being a Heavyweight Championship match on the night. It frees up some more time and focus to the battle royal.

For those of you who can wager with 5Dimes and would like to back the 'No, the record will remain' you can find it at -600. It had previously been available at -1,050.

  1. I can see Lesnar entering himself into the RR next Monday on Raw. Then it'll be down to him and Reigns as the final two. Then Lesnar will win by eliminating Reigns cleanly. Then it sets up a Mania rematch.
Can't help but think Triple H is going to be involved aswell somewhere though....
