A last man standing match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship has now been added to the Royal Rumble undercard and has prompted speculation on whether Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens will participate in the battle royal later on in the night.
Earlier today, a visitor left the following comment:
Kevin Owens vs Ambrose in a last man standing match for IC title. Pretty much confirms neither is likely to be in the royal rumble as it'll be a long brutal match?
I responded with 'It does not confirm anything' because, well, it doesn't.
Of course there is a chance that one - or both - of the wrestlers in the last man standing match will not feature in the Royal Rumble. It's just that I don't think that's how it will play out.
With Dean Ambrose being Roman Reigns' 'brother', I think it's safe to assume that he'll be featured in the battle royal. I am open to the suggestion that him being too injured to compete - and ultimately be unable to assist Reigns - is one route they could take. I can't see it, though.
And then there's Kevin Owens. Don't forget his gimmick is that of a prize fighter. He wouldn't be a very good prize fighter if he doesn't enter himself into a match where the biggest prize of all can be won.
Even with my own suggestions above, there's also the clear announcement made on this past Monday's edition of Raw when Mr. McMahon and Stephanie named them as being in the match.
I figure at least a few of the wrestlers on the ramp will not end up being in the match, but Ambrose and Owens are more likely in my opinion. They are too strong to not have in there.
It would be strange admittedly to leave both of them out of the rumble as they are both top talent but if their last man standing match lasts for like 30 minutes who knows. Remember two years ago Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan both two big talents and they didn't feature in the rumble.
ReplyDeleteI agree totally. If they have it as the opening match which they have done before with the IC title, I think there's a good chance they'll be in the Rumble.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope so as I'd rather them than 20% of the Rumble being occupied by New Day and Social Outcasts!!
