Owens Favourite To Meet Lesnar At SummerSlam 2016

Kevin Owens has moved into the role of favourite to be Brock Lesnar's opponent at this year's WWE SummerSlam.

A special market where customers can predict - or rather bet - on the wrestler who faces 'The Beast' on the August 21st super show was published on June 16th. Owens was originally priced at 13/2 while Roman Reigns was a 3/4 favourite.

Since then, Reigns has lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Seth Rollins - who ended up dropping it to Dean Ambrose. This has forced the oddsmakers to improve Reigns' odds from the 3/4 into 2/1.

To Face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam Betting Odds

Dean Ambrose's title win has also forced the bookies to cut the price on him facing Lesnar in what would be a rematch from WrestleMania 32. He opened at 17/1 and is now down to 6/1.

Randy Orton had seen interest in the first day of betting. He was installed 14/1, but has been backed into 8/1.

Lesnar will make a return to the UFC on July 9th. There have been assurances from the fighter and WWE that he'll wrestle at SummerSlam, so it's interesting to see who is next in line behind Mark Hunt.

I believe the bettors, or oddsmakers, are on the right track here. Kevin Owens is an ideal opponent for Lesnar. I also think Randy Orton is an interesting prospect. The only drawback with Orton is he is due to return from injury soon. The person who faces Lesnar might need to do the job. Orton's first important match back should end in victory, so there's a conflict there.

Dean Ambrose isn't worth considering. I doubt WWE will have another bout between the two so soon after their last meeting. This points the finger firmly on Kevin Owens.
