Paddy Power's Brock Lesnar Specials

With Brock Lesnar returning to the octagon for UFC 200 tomorrow night, the oddsmakers at PaddyPower.com have released some specials where their customers can bet on certain things happening either tomorrow or in the future.

Here are propositions and prices as of 3pm BST today:

As you can see above, there some interesting selections to choose from. I am particularly fascinated by the first option - 'Brock Lesnar to win and for his next fight to be for the UFC Heavyweight Title'.

Betfair.com has a similar prop available, but the wording on it is 'Lesnar To Get An Instant Title Shot If He Wins' and - despite my intuition telling me that Lesnar will fight at least one more time, and maybe for the title - I am more tempted to take the 5/1 from Paddy Power than the 8/1 with Betfair.com.

The reason why is simple - I don't know how 'instant' Lesnar's title shot will come if he does win on Saturday.

The next UFC Heavyweight Title fight is scheduled to take place in September. Based on the situation with WWE/Brock Lesnar, I don't think anything will be suggested instantly.

It's worth noting that Alistair Overeem is challenging Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight Championship. Overeem is the last person to defeat Lesnar. A September victory by Overeem would be a perfect set-up for Lesnar .vs. Overeem II.

Most of Lesnar's interviews since announcing his 'one-off' return to the UFC have focused on the latter part of his previous UFC career. He has mentioned his battle with diverticulitis. The fight against Overeem came at the time when he was recovering from that setback.

I've placed a small wager on at 5/1. I have done so with trepidation because it requires a lot of things working out. The first hurdle is the biggest: Brock Lesnar has to win tomorrow.

  1. I like Paddy's 1,83 odds on Lesnar landing the most takedowns. I think they'll end up against the cage and Lesnar will sweep his feet.

I've also maxed out my bets on both of these beasts touching gloves before the bell - they both seem to like each other. If anyone know a bookmaker other than PaddyPower/Sportsbet currently offering this bet, please let me know.

    1. I thought it was nice of Paddy to pay me for the touch gloves bet. I was certain the bet was going to be voided once they didn't have a pre-match staredown and the touch actually occured after the bell.

A rumor site is also claiming that win or lose @ UFC 200, Lesnar is certain to be victorious @ SummerSlam. Do you have any info on where this rumor might have originated from, Mr Taylor? I predict Lesnar will open up as 1,50 favorite vs Orton and am looking to back him early.

    2. Well, it should be a given that Brock wins. There's no way they should have him lose now.

Dave Meltzer, on this morning's WOR podcast said that they should go all-in with him now. I think the rumour site may have got it from there.

To be fair, it'll be crazy to have him lose now with this momentum.
