The 'Wake Up!' Calls

Every now and again, I get comments left under my blog posts telling me about a certain website that has WWE odds. This happens quite a lot of times throughout the year, but tends to be at its most vociferous during the summer months in the lead in to SummerSlam.

None of these comments see the light of day. There's a good reason behind this. I've checked out the website and it looks dreadful. Visually, it's like something somebody could put together in less than an hour.

I passed the URL over to a friend who works in the business a while back. He hadn't heard of this firm (it'll go unnamed) and also noted how poorly designed and unprofessional it looked.

Fast forward to the beginning of this week. On Sunday evening, I put out a tweet on Twitter either alerting followers to a new post here or simply putting out the SummerSlam odds from 5Dimes. A few hours later, somebody left the following in reply:

'you guys need to wake up! 5Dimes is old news!! you skybet which is better and (URL) already has props up.... like will orton his the RKO on Brock and how many times orton is suplexed'

As I hadn't visited the website in a while, I checked in. Same dreadful visual. Further to this, I clicked a few of the links on the page to find some prices. One page led me to a WordPress sign in. Think of that one for a moment - a betting firm using a WordPress blog. Let that one settle in before I continue.

Just like I did a year or so earlier, I passed the URL off to another person I know in the industry to see if he had heard of the 'company'. The response, once again, was negative. His words were simple and to the point: 'Never heard of them and that's a bad sign. Wouldn't bother with them, look dodgy as f**k.'

It doesn't even end there, even though I would have liked it to.

I woke up this morning to a new Twitter user having hijacked one of the previous evening's tweets. This time it read:

'wake up! 5Dimes is old news!! there was an article on the forum they are copying (URL) lines for LLWS (URL) has more props, and is not having wagers at high juice like Tony and 5d'

Two separate Twitter accounts. Both using the 'Wake up/Old news' spiel. How uncanny..

There is no way whatsoever that I'll write about any betting odds from this website. I have my own suspicions going in and also the two people who know better than me about the sports betting industry. I will never endorse this firm because the methods they have adopted to get awareness. Plus, they are unregulated and if anything were to happen with them not honouring bets, there is no method to try and argue your point. And let's not even consider the possibility of the site vanishing into nothingness with your bet still in play.

All I recommend, is - if you come across a website promoting WWE betting odds and think the site looks 'dodgy as f**k' - it's possibly because it is.

  1. I think the people who go on these websites and actually use them really do need to "wake up"!

  2. Eric,

I got your comment but I hope you understand that if I went out of my way to not mention the website in the main post, I'm not going to allow it to see the light of day in the comment section.

Yes, that's the site. It is absolutely invalid where I am concerned.

Ask yourself this - what proper sportsbook would be advertising its WWE betting odds as soon as you enter its website? As you noted, the design looks like a kid had done it.

Maybe I'm being too much of a snob, but what kind of a sportsbook is cheap enough to set up a website using a WordPress template?

The people from this sportsbook have been trying to leave comments on these posts for the best part of two years. The hijacking tweets with fake Twitter aliases was the last straw.

The desperation is eye opening and should be a warning in itself.

    1. Yeah I completely understand! Yeah first time I saw it I almost laughed. I would never trust depositing a single dollar there with them. I love the line on their site that talks about all you have to do to bet on a HS football game is to send them a quick email and they will make lines. I bet it's a couple of 20 year olds trying to make a quick buck. I'd also recommend staying away if you like your money and identity not stolen.
