John Cena In Rumble 2017 Title Match

John Cena will challenge whoever is WWE World Champion at the Royal Rumble

The returning WWE superstar made the announcement in the opening segment of tonight's show. Tonight's main event will see AJ Styles defend the title against Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match.

This should set up Cena contending for Styles' title on January 29th.

Most importantly. it lessens John Cena's chance of being a participant in the Rumble  of winning the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble and has caused me to take him off my list of potential winners.

This now means The Undertaker has moved into third place on my list of potential Rumble winners. This is now how I rank things:

1) Chris Jericho
2) Braun Strowman
3) The Undertaker
4) Finn Balor

If the WWE Championship changes hands during the Royal Rumble PPV, and the winner of the battle royal comes from the Raw brand, then Smackdown's Elimination Chamber match on February 12th could be used to set up Undertaker as the challenger to Cena.

  1. I got Jericho at 33/1
    Undertaker at 20/1
    and Strowman at 33/1

Not too bad of a position to be in! It's got to be one of these 3 now for sure...

  3. I think Cena beats Styles, Taker wins the rumble, Cena defends the title at elimination chamber and the Universal Title number 1 contender is decided at Fast Lane

    1. One of the few reasons why I have two Raw stars at the top of the list is because Smackdown came out of the Survivor Series the stronger brand. I can't help but feel they'll balance this out with a Raw winner in the Rumble especially with the Elimination Chamber a fortnight later for the Smackdown brand. A number one contender could be determined there.
