The Kenny Omega Tease

In one simple Instagram post, John Cena has added fuel to the speculation that Kenny Omega is WWE-bound.

The WWE star added an image of Omega to his Instagram account yesterday. This followed Omega's announcement a few days earlier, on Twitter, where the NJPW main eventer noted that he will be 'stepping away from Japan' in order to reassess his future. This prompted a few bookmakers to add Omega to some of their Royal Rumble 2017 markets.

In a post published on Friday, I noted that Paddy Power priced up new names to its market where customers can bet on wrestlers being official participants in the January 29th battle royal. One of the additions was Omega.

At that point, he was available at 10/11, but I suggested that it was impossible for him to be a part of the WWE roster in January as I was under the impression that he had signed a two-year deal with NJPW in early 2016. There are reports disputing this. They state that his current deal expires on January 31st of 2017.

Either way, if - and it's still an if - he is coming to WWE, it won't be until after the Royal Rumble.

Still, I thought it would be interesting to see if any punters had backed Omega to participate in the battle royal so checked in with Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page only to notice that the market had been taken down.

I did look in on Paddy's Rumble market. Omega had been added and is now available at 14s. Sky Bet's Wrestling Page, which must have added him recently, is offering a heavy 50/1.

If he were free to participate in the Royal Rumble, I still wouldn't have placed a bet. Nobody has ever won the Royal Rumble match on their first night in the company and I doubt there would have been an exception made here.

What would be interesting to see is a 'What Will Kenny Omega's Next Move Be?' prop where customers can predict what happens next.

I know what I'd bet on.
