I had a look through all of the WrestleMania 33 'Who Will Be Champion At The End Of The Show?' markets earlier today and thought I'd publish this post looking through all the price changes that I've recorded.
I'll go through each market one-by-one and as they appear on Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page.
US Championship

The US Championship market has seen Kevin Owens replace Chris Jericho as the favourite to leave with the strap. When the market was initially published, Owens was as short as 1/4. The customers landed on Jericho's 15/8 and forced the oddsmakers to slash the price to 4/6 and move Owens out to 11/10.
Another name whose price has dropped is Sami Zayn. He has moved in from 5s to 4/1. It doesn't make any sense to me. The current titleholder is Chris Jericho who, after last week's Raw, is now technically a babyface. Jericho was supposed to have wrestled Sami Zayn at Fast Lane, but I get the feeling that the match has been changed to Zayn versus Samoa Joe and this would mean Jericho keeping the title for the time being.
If Jericho were to drop the US strap any point between now and just before WrestleMania, I believe the obvious opponent is Samoa Joe. I cannot see Joe losing it at WrestleMania IF he is the titleholder going in.
With that said, I think Owens and Jericho will contest for the US strap on April 2nd.
Raw Women's Championship

This market hasn't changed since I last checked in with it three days ago. I'm intrigued to see what happens to the prices if the market is still available after Fast Lane.
Intercontinental Championship

Baron Corbin's odds have continued to come in. The selection kicked off at 5/6, but was moved to 4/6 in its first day. It's now at 4/7.
I have backed Corbin as I have a feeling he'll defeat Dean Ambrose for the strap at Mania.
Smackdown Women's Championship

Naomi's odds to still be WWE Smackdown Women's Championship at the conclusion of WrestleMania 33 have moved in from 6/4 to 4/7 in three days.
Tamina's price moved out from 20/1 to 33/1, but was backed and then cut to 10/1.
As I've written in at least two posts, I have a feeling the title will not be defended at WrestleMania, so my money is on Naomi only because she has been vocal about wanting to bring the title to Orlando - her hometown - for the event.
Two things that could mess this up is the injury that Naomi suffered in her title win and Alexa Bliss is due a rematch.
Universal Championship

It's all Brock Lesnar. He was 8/13 on day one and was 1/4 within twenty-four hours. He's now down to 1/10. This makes sense because many are expecting Bill Goldberg to defeat Kevin Owens for the strap at Fast Lane in less than two weeks.
Lesnar is due a win over Goldberg, so - if the title is on the line in their meeting - it's absolutely likely that he'll be the champ as the show goes off the air in the early hours of April 3rd.
Randy Orton's name has been added to the market. This is likely a reaction to the current Smackdown storyline where Orton has refused his championship opportunity against Bray Wyatt. The match is happening, so there's no point even looking at the 6/1 for Orton to leave Orlando as Universal Champion. This leads nicely to...
WWE World Championship

The market hasn't changed since I last looked at it.. Randy Orton is still odds-on to become WWE World Champion. The other obvious choice is Bray Wyatt at 13/8.
We'll get a better idea on the storyline directions within a fortnught, so these markets should eventually end up coming down to be replaced by actual match markets. I'll continue to keep tabs on them in the meantime.
Tamina drifted back to 20/1 for anyone else who fancies it.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that thinks Bray is value? Or is this sudden mega-push only there to put Randy over?
ReplyDeleteSurely the best fan reaction would be Bray as a dark babyface over a heel Orton, but is WWE too stubborn to make the switch?
