Abraham asked this earlier today:

Quick question - Do you think it's a safe bet for AJ Styles to win the 2018 Royal Rumble? Since Smackdown now has the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, I think Raw will get the Elimination Chamber. Maybe John Cena wins there to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Title.

My response:

Firstly, I don't like using the term 'safe bet' especially when the battle royal is months away. Anything can happen between now and then. I came very close to calling AJ Styles to win over Kevin Owens at Battleground a 'safe bet' when smart money came in shortly before the show and look what happened there!
I agree with your guess that the Elimination Chamber could end up being a Raw event. However, I still think either John Cena or Roman Reigns are the right calls to win the Royal Rumble.
I bought in on the Reigns .vs. Cena Mania match only because of the reports that the SummerSlam main event had been moved from WrestleMania . This evidently hasn't transpired, so the original plan of Brock Lesnar .vs. Roman Reigns could still be the direction for all we know.

  1. If Brock is the champion going into wrestlemania then I think Roman will win a elimination chamber match to become no 1 Contender. Don't think Brock would participate in a chamber match

I don't know I just feel Styles wins the royal rumble. Roman + Philadelphia = WWE might not do that again . Only John Cena has chance but Cena is in a stage where he can get direct title shots

    1. Cena was just in a position where he didn't get a direct title shot. If they go with a story where he's chasing a title - which they will get to eventually - he would have to overcome a hurdle to become a contender.

  2. The current positioning of Cena and Reigns as joint 9/4 favorites seems correct. I don't think WWE will go through with Reigns winning the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia a second time, and Cena's status as a free agent means WWE can create drama around his choice of title challenge, so I've gone with Cena as the winner. Styles would seem to be the lone dark horse that makes sense now that Nakamura is in the WWE title picture.

    1. Of the two, I'd prefer Cena winning the Rumble and having the choice.

    2. I agree. The drama of him, say, choosing between a chance at redemption against Nakamura or a chance at reclaiming his top spot against Reigns would be irresistible.

  3. This year Orton wins. Who could predict him few months before RR? its too early to think about it

    1. When there are betting odds and rumours of WrestleMania plans, it's never too early to think about it.

  4. I don't think Cena will win Royal rumble for third time .

First time royal rumble is always better IMO
