Lesnar Moves Into SummerSlam 2017 Favourite At Paddy Power

Brock Lesnar has become a favourite to retain the WWE Universal Championship in a betting market for the SummerSlam 2017 main event on Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page.

The Beast, who was 13/8 when I published a post about the Irish bookmaker's odds for the fatal 4-way last night, has now been cut to 13/10.

In the aforementioned post, I noted that I had missed the market when it was first published, but mentioned the prices that were given to me. Paddy Power has confirmed the numbers I published last night were the opening prices.

As I pointed out yesterday, the early bettors landed on Samoa Joe as his price was snipped from 9/2 into 7/4. With Lesnar now being backed, Joe has moved up a tad to 15/8.

Roman Reigns started out as a favourite, but I very much doubt he'll win this match on August 20th. In my opinion, the day Reigns becomes Universal Champion should be in a one-on-one match.

For what it's worth, I believe the punters that have backed Lesnar are on the right side. I thought Lesnar would win as soon as it was announced that he would defend the title in a fatal 4-way match. Had it been against Reigns in a singles, I would have been conflicted. As mentioned in Tuesday's Comment Bag, the stipulation that Lesnar will leave WWE if he loses the championship has also strengthened my opinion that Lesnar is retaining.
