8-0*

After every wrestling PPV that I cover here at WWELeaks.org, I add a few notes to a database where I've been keeping record of wins and losses by closing favourites. When adding the data for No Mercy, I found it a bit of a struggle because of two results from the show.

The first one was easily solved.

When it comes to 5Dimes' odds for the PPV, the Raw Women's Championship market closed with the eventual winner, Alexa Bliss, at +110. The individual pricing for Nia Jax closed at +100. However, I pointed out - in the post where I announced the betting favourites at the start of the PPV - that I was focusing on 'The Field .vs. Nia Jax' rather than on the individual odds for Nia Jax. The reason was because the backing of Jax didn't make any sense to me when her odds plummeted on Sunday afternoon.

The one that I found slightly more difficult to make a call on was the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match.

5Dimes closed with the eventual winner, Enzo Amore, at -115 while the defending champ, Neville, was -125. However, at the start of the show, it was Enzo who was -125.

The sportsbooks here in Europe had Amore as a far shorter favourite. For example, Kambi closed with the challenger at 2/5 (-250  US).

I might seem like I'm changing the goalposts, but I cannot go with 6-2 or 7-1. It has to be 8-0.

Or rather 8-0*.

I added the asterisk to note that I chose to point out 'The Field versus Nia Jax' in the first market and indicate that Enzo was 5Dimes' favourite at the start of the show and was Europe's closing fave.

No Mercy 2017 was the fifty-ninth entry to the database that started with SummerSlam 2013. Going by my tracking, this was the twenty-ninth PPV where all the closing favourites won.

  1. Do you have the stats for actual number of favs? e.g. 339 matches - 300 favs won 39 lost?

    1. Not at hand, but it can be done. I'll get it sorted when I'm back at the PC.
