Settling Kambi's O/U Observer Markets For Clash Of Champions 2017

This week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now been published. This edition includes Dave Meltzer's review of this past weekend's WWE Clash of Champions 2017 pay-per-view.

Over the weekend. Kambi's oddsmakers published betting markets where customers could predict who the newsletter's editor would receive all the matches on the card. They installed Over/Under lines and gave the punter the opportunity to bet over, under or exactly what the star rating line that they set.

In this post, I'll look through every match that was graded by Meltzer and point out where the winning options would have been for these specials.

Mojo Rawley .vs. Zack Ryder
Mojo Rawley's pre-show victory over Zack Ryder on the event's pre-show was given two-and-three-quarter stars in the review.

As you can see by clicking the table above, the customers were in favour of the match being given more than two stars as the 'Over' went from 17/10 to 3/5 between the day the market was first installed right up to Sunday night. They made the right call.

Triple Threat For US Championship
Dolph Ziggler's surprise underdog US Championship win against Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode was rated three-and-a-half stars.

The line was set at '3 Stars'. The prices remained stationary for most of the weekend until late on Sunday night when the 'Under 3 Stars' moved in from 23/20 into even money.

The betting went against the end result here.

Fatal 4-Way For WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship
Kambi set the line for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship match at 3.5 stars. Meltzer rated it four-and-a-quarter stars.

The betting was on the right side as the customers evidently backed 'Over 3.5 Stars' across the weekend. It opened at 5/4, but was down to 19/20 shortly before the event.

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
Charlotte Flair's successful defence of the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship earned one-and-a-half stars in the write-up.

As you can see by clicking on the table above, the line was set at 2.75 stars. There was interest in the 'Under' by the end of the weekend, so anyone who backed this selection made the right call.

Bludgeon Brothers .vs. Breezango
Everyone expected The Bludgeon Brothers versus Breezango to be a squash match. The oddsmakers - factoring this in - set the line at 1.75 stars.

The betting was mainly in favour of the 'Under'. However, there was a moment on Sunday night when the 'Over' fell from 7/4 into 5/4 before the 'Under' was once again backed.

This match received one star, so those that took the 'Under' will have their bets settled in their favour.

Owens and Zayn .vs. Nakamura and Orton
The tag team match - which saw Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton - was rated three-and-a-quarter stars in the review.

There's little to go on by looking at the table above as the odds remained stationary through the weekend. The line was set at 3.5 so anybody who backed the under would have chosen the right option.

WWE Championship
AJ Styles' victory over Jinder Mahal in the main event was awarded three-and-a-quarter stars in Meltzer's article.

I was one of the punters to have backed 'Over 3 Stars' when it was at 2/1. The reason why I chose this was because I enjoyed the pair's last match in Manchester and was hopeful they could have a similar bout at Clash of Champions.

Granted, there was a quarter of a star in it, but a win is a win.

You can see - in the table above - that I wasn't the only one who took the 'Over'. It went from the aforementioned 2/1 all the way down to 17/20 by Sunday night.

I'll return later today with a look at two other Observer markets that were available last weekend.
