In a follow up to yesterday's post regarding Sky Bet's market for the apparently cancelled multi-person match that was scheduled for Extreme Rules - somebody from Sky Bet reached out today to confirm that what I suggested yesterday was correct.
All bets on the match will be voided if a multi-person bout - to determine a number one contender to Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship - does not take place during Extreme Rules.
Bets will remain unsettled until the end of the event.
A similar market that was published by the oddsmakers from Kambi did not refer to the match as a 'Multi-Person', so it prompted one of my visitors to ask what would happen if WWE promotes - for example - Roman Reigns .vs. Bobby Lashley as a match to determine a number one contender to Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship.
It was a good question. I obviously couldn't speak on behalf of the oddsmakers, so looked for an answer from the people who can. The response I got was:
'We have discussed this internally and decided that, as per the rules attached with the offer, should there be a match at Extreme Rules to determine a Number 1 Contender for the Universal Championship, we will pay out on the winner of the match regardless of the number of participants involved. As you correctly point out in your query, there is no reference to 'Multi-Person' in the the offer. As such we believe the bets should stand, granted that there is a match for the Number 1 Contender for the Universal Championship at Extreme Rules.
Nevertheless, we understand that the market proposed was viewed by punters with the concept of a multi-person match. As such, we have agreed that - if the Number 1 Contender Mattch for the Universal Championship st Extreme Rules is a singles match, we will refund to our customers the stakes on those outcomes who are not part of said singles match.'
Hope this clears it up for now.
