Meltzer And Alvarez On Kambi's MITB 2018 Star Ratings Lines

Earlier today, I listened to the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio and the topic of Kambi's Over/Under star ratings markets for Money in the Bank 2018 was brought up. I thought I'd dedicate a post filled with notes on what Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez said about some of the lines.

On Carmella .vs. Asuka's line of 2 Stars
Meltzer let out a deep breath and came up with a 'maybe' in regards to whether it'll do better than the line. Both he and Alvarez agreed that - if it goes over - the reason why will be because of Asuka.

From the betting, the punters appear to have backed the match doing better than the line.

It is now being offered at 4/5, but had opened at EVS when it was first priced up two days ago.

On the AJ Styles .vs. Shinsuke Nakamura line of 4.25 Stars
Dave feels that tonight's WWE Championship match has the potential to be the better match of the current series between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. He didn't say whether it would go over or under this number, but felt the line was close to where he believes it could be.

This market has been available since last month. The punters have been backing the 'Under' and - if I were to add something - I would be following them as I have been underwhelmed. Blame it on high expectations.

On Nia Jax .vs. Ronda Rousey having a line of 2.25 Stars
Dave wasn't so sure about the WWE Raw Women's Championship match. He acknowledged that the bout is being worked and planned out ahead of time but, like I wrote in a post published yesterday, he also feels it should be kept short.
Bryan added something really interesting when he mentioned the match length potentially playing a factor in how many stars it receives. He said something along the lines of 'if this match goes ninety seconds, it isn't going to get two-and-a-quarter. If it goes six minutes, it isn't going to get two-and-a-quarter'. I can absolutely see where he's coming from. Time really is important not only for star ratings, but how it will be received universally.

On the 2.5 Stars line for Seth Rollins .vs. Elias
Dave mentioned that he has read a lot of praise for the Seth Rollins .vs. Elias house show matches.
The punters appear to have agreed as the price for the 'Over' has declined since the market went up.

As you can see, the 'Over' has been cut since the market was republished this morning.

On the line of 4.25 Stars for men's Money in the Bank ladder match
Dave pointed out that, historically, the men's Money in the Bank ladder matches are always good. He mentions that this year's match has the potential to be the best of the night.

On the 3 Stars line for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match
Dave mentioned that the women's ladder match could be better than expected due to the talent being pulled from house shows in order to work out how the match is laid out for tonight. The editor said that it 'might beat' the line of three starts.

The gamblers are of a similar opinion as the 'Over' has been falling across the weekend.

These markets are found along with other WWE betting opportunities on the websites that publish Kambi's Pro Wrestling odds. A couple of examples can be found below.
