The Kambi oddsmakers republished their SummerSlam 2018 betting markets yesterday. They're specials where customers can place wagers on who they believe will leave New York as holder of one of the four premier titles within WWE.
All four markets are showing differing prices to when I last looked through them, so - in this post - I hope to bring you up to speed.
Starting with the Raw Women's Championship market - the odds for Ronda Rousey to be holding the title currently in possession of Alexa Bliss have been cut from 3/4 into 2/5.
On the most recent episode of Raw, Rousey was given a 30-day storyline suspension for attacking Bliss, Kurt Angle and referees in an angle. This could potentially lead to Rousey challenging Bliss in the Raw Women's Championship match at SummerSlam, so forced the bookies to cut Rousey's price to 2/5.
Bliss - who fell from 6/1 into 3/1 when she became the betting favourite to win the 2018 women's Money in the Bank ladder match - is now down to 9/4 while Jax, who was the titleholder when the market was last up, has drifted out to 2/1 from 5/4.
It's worth noting that Jax is challenging Bliss for the title at Extreme Rules in three weeks.
Asuka's odds to be holding the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship when all is said and done in the early hours of August 20th have been slashed from 1/2 into 1/4.
She isn't the only name to be lowered, though.
Becky Lynch has been cut from 5/2 into 7/4 and Nikki Bella from 12/1 to 10/1.
In regards to Lynch - don't forget she was having beef with James Ellsworth when the latter was last with the company. He has since returned to WWE and is back to being aligned with the current titleholder, Carmella.
The odds for Carmella to be in possession of the strap were cut from 7/2 to 5/2 before June 16th, but rose up to 3/1 with the adjustments in favour of the three names already covered.
I had backed Carmella at 7/2. This was because I had learnt of Ellsworth returning and thought they'd keep the strap on her for a while just to keep their act going.
Another thing - Carmella being the hometown girl at SummerSlam has its positives and negatives, so I'm gambling on the former.
As you can see in the table above, Daniel Bryan's odds to be the WWE Champion coming out of the event have been on the decline. They were cut from 6/4 into 5/4 by June 6th and are now at 9/10. As far as I am aware, he still hasn't renewed his deal with WWE. Until then, I am reluctant to even consider he'll be given the strap.
The current champion - AJ Styles - is now 6/4 from 3/1. In my opinion, he was at 3s for so long because the punters - and bookies - expected The Miz to win the Money in the Bank briefcase. I state this because Miz's odds to leave SummerSlam with the strap have increased from 5/4 to 5/2.
Rusev - who will face the champ at Extreme Rules in three weeks - has dipped from 8/1 into 7s.
Samoa Joe is the one to watch. His odds have dipped from 4/1 into 5/2. He was positioned into the title picture shortly after he was moved from Raw to Smackdown.
Randy Orton dropping from 33/1 to 10/1 stands out to me only because, during Styles' WWE 2K19 press conference earlier this week, the champ stated that he would like to wrestle Orton again. I guess the oddsmaker heard or read this statement and that's why The Viper's odds have descended.
Which reminds me: while watching the press conference it struck me that a betting market where customers could place wagers on the cover star for the 2K games is something I would be interested in seeing.
The 2018 men's Money in the Bank winner - Braun Strowman - is now the favourite to leave SummerSlam as the WWE Universal Champion.
He had moved from 5/2 to 11/4 by the day before Money in the Bank, but has since been slashed to 9/10.
Despite the Strowman selection moving in, three other names have seen cuts.
Drew McIntyre has lowered from 33/1 into 20/1, John Cena from 25/1 into 17s and Bobby Lashley - who is confirmed for the number one contender's match to determine Lesnar's next opponent - is 5/1 from 8/1.
Roman Reigns has drifted out from 4/5 to 5/4. I can understand this movement.
If he ends up challenging Lesnar for the title on August 19th, there is a possibility of Strowman cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to close the show.
This is, of course, if Reigns wins the match to book a shot against Lesnar in three weeks.
With the rumors of Undertaker having a match at Summerslam, Do you think Undertaker can challenge Styles for WWE title ?
ReplyDeleteI mean taker might win the title, Cena gets his rematch at Wrestlemania 35. He retires Taker and simultaneously breaks Richard Flair's record
I can't see it.
