SummerSlam IC Title Match Odds From Sky Bet

In the first post of the day, I noted that Sky Bet had published SummerSlam 2018 betting markets for Brock Lesnar .vs. Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman .vs. Kevin Owens. Another match market put up this morning is for the Intercontinental Championship meeting between titleholder, Dolph Ziggler and his challenger - Seth Rollins.

Ziggler has been installed at EVS while the former champ - Rollins - is an 8/11 favourite.

The other prices were covered in the other post, but for those who may have missed it, the markets opened with:

Braun Strowman 1/3
Kevin Owens 9/4

Brock Lesnar EVS
Roman Reigns 8/11

  1. Roman Reigns 8/11 for me.

The whole point of this ongoing storyline is about Roman Reigns finally slaying the beast.

A cash in during the match doesn't make sense because Roman still wouldn't have overcome the beast.

The only thing that makes sense is a Reigns win whether he leaves Brooklyn as the Universal Champion or not is a different question.

Cash in or not Roman Reigns has to slay the Beast at Summerslam otherwise the storyline has been a complete waste of time.

  2. Kevin Owens 9/4 for me also.

I'm 100% sure Roman is going to beat Brock Lesnar at Summerslam but I don't think he is going to walk out the Universal Champion. I believe Kevin Owens will be leaving Brooklyn as the Universal Champion and a new Authority figure. The new Authority consisting of Constable Corbin (Corporate Kane), KO as champ instead of Seth Rollins and of course Triple H and Stephanie.

I think we get a Strowman vs. Authority storyline coming out of SummerSlam for a number or reasons.

    1. Triple H needs to get revenge on Strowman after Survivor Series.

    2. Triple H and Stephanie need to get revenge on Kurt Angle for the Ronda Rousey business.

    3. KO needs to get revenge on Strowman after he has been used as Braun's punch bag since the superstar shake up.

    4. KO needs to get revenge on Kurt Angle after he has placed him in numerous matches against Braun Strowman.

    5. Kevin Owens has been seen on television wearing Baron Corbin hoodies recently which is interesting.

    6. WWE is advertising KO vs Roman Reigns at HIAC. No mention of the Universal Championship but it's a coincidence that both of these superstars have a chance of leaving Brooklyn as the Universal Champion.

    7. Last but not least all of these new Authority figures have a strong relationship from previous/current storylines and all of them need to gain revenge on the same people (Strowman & Angle) Triple H already has a strong relationship with Kevin Owens remember when he handed him the Universal Championship on a episode of RAW. Stephanie has a strong relationship with Corbin that's why she personally appointed him the Constable of RAW. KO and Corbin have been best buddies since the Constable character was introduced to the WWE Universe.

HIAC KO vs Roman as advertised whilst Braun faces Corbin in his quest to take down the Authority.

    Everything just adds up.

  3. Seth Rollins 8/11 for me.

WWE always does multiple title changes on the biggest shows.

If advertising is correct which I believe it is then AJ Styles will be defending the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe at HIAC. I think WWE will keep the Championship on Styles a bit longer to promote WWE2K19 Sales.

Shinsuke Nakamura only won the US Championship at extreme rules so I don't see him dropping the title just yet.

So I think its likely that 1 world championship and 1 mid card championship will be changing hands.

I don't see Seth Rollins losing 3 straight championship matches to Dolph Ziggler. WWE could have ended this feud at Extreme Rules and promoted Rollins into the Universal Championship picture after he lost his rematch but they didn't and that speaks volumes to me.

If you have no plans for Seth Rollins to regain the Intercontinental Championship then what's the point in continuing this feud and doing this match again? Imo they obviously have plans for Seth to win the IC title back otherwise they would have written him out of the IC Title picture at Extreme Rules.

  4. David, do you know if there are odds for a cash-in at SummerSlam or the night after? I have a sense this is Vince finally giving Roman his moment before cruelly taking it away.

    1. There will be nearer to the day because there often always is when there's a briefcase holder.
