Kambi's SummerSlam 2018 Observer Markets Published

The Kambi oddsmakers have published their Wrestling Observer Newsletter star rating specials for SummerSlam 2018.

As has become a regular feature on the sports betting platforms, customers can place Over/Under wagers on Dave Meltzer's match reviews of this weekend's PPV. There is also an outright market where punters can guess - or rather bet - which match receives the most stars in the editor's report. A third market allows punters to guess how many stars the highest rated match of the night will be rated.

An image of the 'Exact Star Rating of the Highest Rated Match on the Card' market can be viewed below.

As of the time of writing, there are two 7/4 joint-favourites. They are 'Exactly 3.75 Stars' and 'Exactly 4.0 Stars'.

The bookies have placed AJ Styles versus Samoa Joe at the top of the market where customers can place wagers on the highest rated match on Sunday's card.

As you can see, 'WWE Championship' is EVS. Next up is the Seth Rollins versus Dolph Ziggler clash for the Intercontinental Championship at 7/4, Daniel Bryan vs The Miz is next up at 2/1, then Brock Lesnar .vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at 3/1, Alexa Bliss .vs. Ronda Rousey is at 7s and then the option to wager on any other match on the card getting the most stars is out at 10/1.

The Over/Under markets - where customers can place bets on whether Meltzer rates a match above, below or exactly on the line the bookmaker has set - have the following lines.

Cedric Alexander .vs. Drew Gulak - 3.25 Stars
Lana and Rusev .vs. Almas and Vega - 2.00 Stars
The B-Team .vs. The Revival - 2.00 Stars
Braun Strowman .vs. Kevin Owens 2.75 Stars
Daniel Bryan .vs. The Miz - 3.75 Stars
Finn Balor .vs. Baron Corbin - 2.50 Stars
Dolph Ziggler .vs. Seth Rollins - 3.75 Stars
Alexa Bliss .vs. Ronda Rousey - 2.75 Stars
The Bludgeon Brothers .vs. The New Day - 2.75 Stars
Smackdown Women's Championship Triple Threat - 2.50 Stars
Shinsuke Nakamura .vs. Jeff Hardy - 2.50 Stars
Brock Lesnar .vs. Roman Reigns - 3.25 Stars
AJ Styles .vs. Samoa Joe - 4.00 Stars

I plan to keep track of the betting for this and then have a review of how it all went once the issue of the Observer is published next week.

  1. Meltzer generally doesn't like DQ or count out finish. He generally rates the matches lower with those finishes. Assuming AJ - Joe has non finish, then I think it won't be MOTN.

Seth - Ziggler won't be as good as their previous matches because the match will focus more on outside guys Drew and Ambrose.

I think MOTN will be Bryan vs Miz. Long story build and they had good matches in house shows. Bryan is still technically really good in the ring and Miz has improved in the ring a lot.He already had a great match with Rollins and I think he can do the same with Bryan.

what do you think David ?

    1. I agree. Miz vs Bryan stood out to me as well. Although I haven't bet on any of these markets as of right now.

  2. I think Miz vs Bryan is a lock to be MOTN imo.

AJ vs Joe is ending in a screwy finish imo. If it doesn't then WWE has to make Joe look strong in defeat so you can expect a one sided match with a fluky win for AJ.

Rollins vs Ziggler will be heavily focused around Dean and Drew imo so that will more than likely knock the rating down a tad. I could see this end in a DQ finish as well tbh in favour of Rollins.

Brock vs Roman matches are based on 4 moves being repeated for 10+ minutes and people have seen it time and time again.

Ronda vs Alexa should be a very quick match. WWE would be foolish if they let Alexa have a lot of offence in this match and have her come close to pinning Rousey imo.
