Becky Lynch Wins Women's Royal Rumble

Becky Lynch is going to WrestleMania.

The Irish Lass Kicker entered the women's Royal Rumble in the twenty-eighth spot after replacing an injured Lana and ended up ousting Charlotte Flair to win and secure a title shot at the April 7th.

Lynch closed as an -185 favourite with 5Dimes. Charlotte entered as a -155 second-favourite.

  1. Not sure if the surprise happened but I'm guessing it was nia jax entering the mens royal rumble? Hmm..

    1. That cannot be classed as a 'Big Surprise'. That account took a gamble over the weekend (he has had some things right in the past). They Worded the tweet well, so if nothing happened that could be regarded as a 'big surprise' he could backtrack.

With that said, Nia Jax entering the Rumble was obviously thought up by someone in the planning stage, so you've got to think somebody also pitched Becky especially with her being 'The Man'.

    2. I actually had a strange, strange thought that Becky Lynch was going to win both.

Get told "because you won both, you can face anybody you want to at wrestlemania"

      "I pick the rock"

And then it can go off what happened on Twitter.

Weird... weird main event. Glad my strange thought didnt happen hahaha

    3. Ha.

I think we're still going to get the triple threat match. On Smackdown, Charlotte will complain that Becky wasn't an official participant and they'll do some angle or match where Charlotte gets added to the WrestleMania main event.

    4. With the amount of bets coming in on the rock, do you think the big surprise was him? And in the end they couldn't do it/he couldn't make it in time?

I wonder if he will appear at elimination chamber (wrestlevotes twitter account said keep eye out in the next few weeks)

    5. Nah, there was zero chance of The Rock. It's impossible for him to do anything like that with his schedule. Any injury and he'd screw a bunch of major productions.

There was an Oddschecker article published last week. All clickbait about Rock and Kenny Omega as potential Rumble winners. It bothered me because there was no chance they were coming in and - considering that website is likely read by people looking to bet, and not really in on wrestling, they wouldn't know any different.

Not saying that's the only reason why Rock's price moved last night, but I think it played a part with people feeding into rumours.

I know I am contradicting myself because I mentioned the Becky Men's Rumble thing, but at least there was a possibility of that one happening rather than one that all signs pointed to it being impossible, if that makes sense.

    6. If they do the 3 Way Maybe Rousey loses without Eating/Pin Submission, but after the WM Loss last Year Asuka should beat Charlotte in a Re-Match. A 3 Way would devalue the Rumble Win.

    7. To be fair, the Rumble win will likely be devalued by Tuesday if they go with the storyline that Becky was not an official participant. This will be how Charlotte finds her way into the triple threat.

    8. Also - many Rumble winners have found themselves in multi-person title matches at Mania.

The Rock, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Batista....

    9. After that Promo tonight between Rousey and Becky it should be clear Charlotte will Not be a Part of it

    10. You could be right, but I'd wait until Smackdown before thinking it's clear.

The thing I wrote above about Becky not being an official participant could still play out and give Charlotte an excuse to be in the mix considering she finished second.

People evidently don't want Charlotte in there. Being added will be another hurdle for Becky in the story and will play off what happened at SummerSlam with Becky getting her title shot and then having Charlotte added to the match afterwards.

If they don't bring anything up about Becky not being official, then I'll agree that it does look clear.

    11. If Becky's winning the title, which she should, then Charlotte being in there as an extra hurdle - after failing to win it in the triple threat at SummerSlam - is kind of a good story, IMO.

    12. Also like to add this isn't me speaking because I have a bet on the triple threat being the main event as I also have Becky .vs. Ronda as a singles match, too. Just looking at how the story could go with the reports that - as of a few weeks ago - the plan was for it to be a three-way.

  2. Good shout on Seth Rollins btw. When was the first time you said he was likely winning? Must have called that a while ago haha

    1. It would have been when Roman Reigns was Universal Champion because I thought it would be a Shield triple threat match. I also backed Dean Ambrose as well.

I moved away from Rollins/Ambrose after Crown Jewel because I thought Strowman would get his rematch against Brock Lesnar via the Royal Rumble but then when I found out that Strowman was supposed to have got it at the Rumble, I was back on Rollins (this time because the Observer reported that it would be Rollins .vs. Lesnar at Mania and I figured there was no way they'd do that match without the title - and was one of the reasons why I was curious why people weren't mentioning Strowman in their promos for Mania).

I had a couple of bad calls the past two years, so it's good to get it right once again.

    2. BTW.. the key day was Reigns' leukaemia announcement. That's where you could pinpoint when the Mania plans changed. Well, it's kind of obvious considering how big Reigns is, but you can see they knew what they were doing right there and then by rushing to Dean .vs. Seth and then starting to gear towards Brock regaining the title at Crown Jewel.

    3. Now heres the question: Does Seth win the title in a happy moment with perhaps reigns coming out and congratulating him...

Or does reigns spear Seth and cost him the title, and returns as a heel?

Would be crazy.. especially since it kinda makes sense reigns returning as a face as he will be more over then he has ever been when he comes back.

    4. If Roman Reigns is in Rollins' corner for the match, I believe they'd have to go with the feel good story.

  3. Get it right? I'm pretty sure your final pick was Becky Lynch to win, correct? Someone can list out 10 names and if one wins they technically got it right, but not really. I was disappointed to have just joined and saw a lot of bad info on Becky that really could had screwed people who simply didn't know better. Oh well! Live and learn.

    1. Seth Rollins was my pick from September to the day/night of Crown Jewel. Then, in the first ‘Rumble Ramblings’ post on Christmas Day, I once again said Rollins was my pick. I locked him in as my pick on Wednesday. On Sunday, I noted that I had placed a wager on Rey Mysterio as a ‘dark horse’ because of the price (70/1 and 66/1) as my friend and I felt he should have been 20/1. On Sunday night, when the card structure was leaked, I said that I had a feeling that the ‘Big Surprise’ that was teased on Saturday by the WrestleVotes Twitter account could be Becky winning the match just because the men’s match was the main event and the ideas.
Furthermore, I think I gave some sound advice last week. I told readers there was zero chance of The Rock and Kenny Omega making it into the match despite another article featuring them.
Oh, and when you want to say you can here and saw ‘bad advice’, how about the advice I gave you in the comments section of the Royal Rumble betting favourites.
You said the following ‘Big swings on 5Dimes. Looks like Reigns and Lynch getting big action. Balor also dropping too’. I countered with this advice: ‘Not really a swing on Reigns. He’s dropped from +1,000 so his odds have (only) halved’, ‘Becky moving to fave is a reaction to her losing the opener. People think she’s going to come back and win the women’s match’ and ‘Balor has been seeing action on and off since the market opened’.
My replies are from experience of doing this. I believe I gave accurate and good advice. And here’s the kicker – it was a reply to you.
And by the way, I know you’ve been coming here longer than this weekend. It was the first thing you said when you tried to stir things up when you first came along. I know who you are.

    2. John replied with the following two comments:

John has left a new comment on your post "Becky Lynch Wins Women's Royal Rumble":

Lol "I know who you are." I know who you are took you tried saying Becky Lynch would win and she didn't but you sill tried taking credit for Seth Rollins winning. Be a man and admit when you're wrong. With how much you promoted Becky Lynch winning the men's royal rumble, you sound like you got a cut from the bookies for getting people to place those bets. Just be a man. You get so defensive when people call you out. Just chill and admit when you're wrong. You didn't get the Rumble Royal right, which was the easiest call of the night. Complain all you want but you got it wrong at the end of the day. Your ignorance is costing people money. People who actually thing this stuff through made good money on that payperview.

      And:

Also "big moves" isn't my endorsement of that person winning. They were big moves. I didn't provide a reason in them doing so. Don't get defensive. It's a sign of weakness.

    3. The moment you try and bring my integrity into this by saying I am on the take from bookmakers for sharing my opinion is the moment when I think you're not worth my time. I'll reply to this and that will be all.

When I bet and write about betting on wrestling, I do so with what information I have in front of me. For weeks, I had pointed to Seth Rollins winning the Royal Rumble because I concluded that he would face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. Many thought it would be Strowman leaving the Rumble with the belt, but I stuck to my guns based on what I saw in front of me. On Saturday night, I published a post about WrestleVotes' hint of a 'Big Surprise' and laid out three guesses. Then, on Sunday, I read that the men's Royal Rumble was scheduled to be the last match of the night and - as I would do if, say a wrestler's odds fell harshly who I hadn't picked to win (and this has happened a lot), I would write about what is happening. When I said I thought Becky Lynch was winning the men's Royal Rumble, I was doing so because I felt that the match being placed in the spot that it was and going by the tease of a 'Big Surprise' was enough to guess. By the way, I wasn't the only person who thought that Becky winning was the surprise that night. To make it simpler for you - I react to what I see before me even if it goes against what I had thought before any changes. Like I said, this happens a lot.
I wrote the post where I pointed out that Paddy Power had added Becky Lynch to its market because somebody on Twitter asked me if I knew any website that was taking bets on her and assumed that, if he was asking, others would too so I thought I'd point people in that direction. No bookmaker pays me to write about their markets or to mislead my visitors into betting.
By the way - Paddy Power refunded wagers on Becky Lynch as free bets on Monday morning.

    4. Another bet I pointed out on Sunday night was the one from Kambi where clients could have backed Smackdown going 2-0 in both Rumbles. It was 15/1 and I did point out that 'This is only of interest to those of you who think this might play out'. Going by your comments that night, you weren't one of those people.
