Sky Bet has published a market for the WWE Championship match that is now set for the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble.
On last night's episode of Smackdown, AJ Styles won a fatal 5-way match to determine a number one contender to Daniel Bryan's title.
The challenger has been installed as a 9/4 outsider to Bryan's 1/3.
In another title market, Brock Lesnar's price to successfully retain the WWE Universal Championship has dipped from the 1/4 from December 27th into 1/5. Braun Strowman is now up to 10/3 from 11/4.
I'm not surprised to see Lesnar's price fall. In a segment on Raw, Seth Rollins once again mentioned Brock Lesnar and the Universal Championship. I still believe that Lesnar versus Rollins will be the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 35.
With that said, Strowman losing once again to Lesnar has me wondering whether there'll be some sort of non-finish to the Universal Championship match in order to keep both men from taking an L and for Lesnar to retain and go on to defend the strap against Rollins at Mania.
For what it's worth, Seth Rollins' price to win the Royal Rumble is now down to even money. When I checked it shortly after Christmas, he was at 13/8.
Do you think AJ has a chance to win the title back with this new character change of AJ Styles to real AJ Styles ?
ReplyDeleteI can't see him losing to bryan clean again. The only way i can see him losing is if Orton interferes since Orton got pinned
In my opinion, AJ shouldn't win it for now because Daniel Bryan's new character is still getting over and being the champion is a big part of it.
DeleteIf you think that Orton is costing Styles, you'd have to discount the fact that the Universal Championship match will have interference because I tend to believe one of them will have to be settled without interference.
AJ losing by DQ would fit the new character, btw.
DeleteDo you think a DQ finish is proper end to this feud ?
DeleteNo, but I also don't think Strowman should be coming out of the Lesnar feud without the title and I think that's what we're getting.
DeleteI have a slight feeling that one world champion will retain and other world champion will lose.
DeleteDo you still think Bryan vs Cena for WWE title will happen at WM 35 especially with both guys refusing to work in Saudi Arabia ?
Nothing has changed my mind on it. There are ways around either guy leaving Mania with the strap, if that's the match.
DeleteRonda's thing about champions defending their titles on the shows following PPVs would allow for them to set up a change on the post-Mania Smackdown.
Also - the Saudi show is scheduled for May this year. There could be another PPV before it.
One last question - Do you think Shawn Michaels will have a match at WM 35 ?
DeleteNo.
DeleteI want to add this in regards to the May PPV.
DeleteThis is a year with a late Easter. I know it might not mean much, but I think it'll be a similar schedule to 2014 where Mania is on the first weekend of April and then the following PPV is on the first Sunday of May.
WWE's UK/Ireland tour began in the days following Extreme Rules on May 4th 2014 and this year the tour begins in the same week (May 8-18).
This is going with the idea that the Saudi show is going ahead in May and not in April.
Sorry - Extreme Rules 2014 was May 4th 2014, the tour began the following week.
DeleteNice, thanks. Had a nice chat with you
DeleteNo worries! Have a good 2019.
DeleteSame to you mate
