The BetOnline Sportsbook does not have its XFL 2020 outright winner market available as of today, so I am somewhat restricted in what I can write for my weekly XFL post.
When I last checked in, the company had the Houston Roughnecks as +200 favourites to be crowned winners in late-April.
The Roughnecks, who were 3-0 at the time, once again won over the weekend. Therefore, it's safe to guess that they'd still be faves had the market been available at the time of writing.
The second-favourites, DC Defenders, had drifted out from +200 to +300 following a 39-9 loss to Los Angeles and I am sure they would have been pushed out further considering the team went to the lowly Tampa Bay and lost 25-0.
One of three other teams whose odds were shortening last week post was the St. Louis Battlehawks. The team's price had been sliced in half from +700 and won 27-20 away to Dallas, so I would expect them to be the second-favourites when - or if - the market is republished.
European markets have reacted just like I've predicted BetOnline's would as they've moved the Defenders out from second into fourth with the Battlehawks replacing them in the second position.
Houston obviously sits atop the European books due to the team being undefeated at the near half-way point.
My betting has been abysmal.
I'm now 2-4 after going 0-2 last week with losing bets on DC -2.5 (lost 25-0 to Tampa Bay) and the over in the Los Angeles versus New York game (the score was 17-14).
This weekend's bet is to take one last go at backing the Defenders. They're +5.5 home dogs. I don't know if that means much, but it's worth noting the last two dreadful weeks have been as the travelling team. Therefore, I'm going to hold my nose and back them.
It is a gamble because they're against the new second-favourites to win the entire league..
