G1 Climax 30 Betting: Night 6

The sixth night of this year's G1 Climax tournament took place today with B Block matches. In this post, I'll go through the early and late betting odds for the bouts on the card.

Before I do, however, I should bring you up to speed on the adjustments that have been made to some of the outright tournament markets from Kambi.

A Block Winner
The oddsmakers republished their market for the A Block winner yesterday. The main take away I had from seeing it is that the four-way tie for favouritism - that I wrote about when on Friday - is no more.

Jay White, who is on 3-0 so far in the tournament, has become the sole favourite. He's down from 5/2 into 6/4.

Another name who was at the top alongside White - Will Ospreay (2 Wins, 1 Loss) - is now in second at odds of 23/10.

The other wrestlers who were in joint-favouritism have drifted out with Kota Ibushi (2-1) and Kazuchika Okada (1-2) moving out to 3/1 and 7/2 respectively.

Taichi - who is another wrestler with a perfect record so far - has been lowered from 7/1 into 13/2. His Suzuki-gun stable boss, Minoru Suzuki, is another with shorter odds. He's now at 25/1 from 33s following his win over Jeff Cobb which sent him to 2-1.

The B Block market is still unchanged from when I covered it on Friday.

Outright Winner
With the adjustments made to the A Block market, the bookmakers have also made Jay White the favourite to become this year's G1 Climax winner.

As you'll see - in the table below - the New Zealander is now at 9/4. This is down from the 7/2 he fell into, from 11/2, when the market was most recently changed.

KENTA, who is 1-1 in B Block and will face Zack Sabre Jr today, is the only other wrestler with shorter odds than Friday. He's now at 15/2 - a slight drop from 8/1.

Now, onto today's card.

G1 Climax 30 Betting: Night 6

Yoshi-Hashi (0-2) .vs. SANADA (0-2)
The opener saw two wrestlers with zero wins face off.

SANADA, who was a 1/9 favourite when the market was first installed on Friday, was dropped into 1/10 sometime on Sunday.

The match was won by Yoshi-Hashi. He did so as a closing 5/1 underdog. He had started out at 17/4.

Match Winner: Yoshi-Hashi

Zack Sabre Jr. (1-1) .vs. KENTA (1-1)
The market for the Zack Sabre Jr .vs. KENTA match was released on Friday with KENTA a 13/20 favourite. His price was reduced into 11/25 sometime between yesterday evening and this morning.

Sabre closed at 8/5. This was up from 11/10.

Match Winner: KENTA

Hiroshi Tanahashi (0-2) .vs. Juice Robinson (2-0)
Another market that was first installed on Friday was for the Hiroshi Tanashashi versus Juice Robinson bout.

As you can see above, Tanahashi started out as an 8/13 favourite over Robinson's 23/20.

This past Sunday, Tanahashi's price was cut into 11/25 and was then down into 7/20 when I checked in an hour before the show.

The market was adjusted during the event.

As you'll see, in the table below, Tanahashi's price fell into 2/7 at around 11:11AM BST. This brought Robinson's price up to 9/4. Tanahashi dropped into 1/5 approximately twenty-two minutes later while his opponent moved out to 3/1. However, a couple of minutes later, Robinson's price fell back into 9/4 and the favourite returned to 2/7.

G1 Climax 30 Betting: Tanahashi .vs. Robinson

Match Winner: Hiroshi Tanahashi

Toru Yano (2-0) .vs. EVIL (1-1)
It was all EVIL in the betting on the Toru Yano versus EVIL contest.

Having opened on September 13th, the former IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion started off as a 2/5 fave. His price was down into 1/3 on Friday and was then into 1/4 on Sunday night. It remained stationary right up through to closure shortly before the match started.

Toru Yano started off at 7/4, but was up to 5/2 by the end of betting.

Match Winner: Toru Yano

Hirooki Goto (1-1) .vs. Tetsuya Naito (1-1)
The market for today's main event was first published on September 13th. It began with the current IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion - Tetsuya Naito - a 7/20 fave while Hirooki Goto was 19/10.

A week later, the oddsmakers placed Naito down into 1/3 while Goto was moved to 2s. Then - on Friday - Naito was dropped into 2/7 with Goto drifting out to 9/4.

When I revisited the market on Sunday, I noticed that Naito had fallen into 11/50 and then - upon this morning's browse before betting was suspended - I noticed the Los Ingobernables de Japon leader had fallen into 2/5.

Goto closed as a 7/4 underdog.

Match Winner: Tetsuya Naito
