New markets for the 2022 WWE Elimination Chamber event have been published by Kambi over the past day. However, before I get to them, I want to write about a market that has been available - on and off - since last week.
Brock Lesnar Drops Into 7/10
The odds for Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship - inside the men's Elimination Chamber - have now fallen into 7/10. When the market was last available, Kambi had him at 7/4.
As a result, all of the other selections have now drifted out with Bobby Lashley now 2/1, from 7/4, to retain, Seth Rollins is now 4/1 from 5/1, AJ Styles has moved from 9/2 to 11/2 and Austin Theory is 33/1 from 18s.
When I last wrote about the match, I noted that I had backed Seth Rollins to claim the title. I did so because I considered the report that Rollins was due to win the WWE Championship on January 1st before changes were made to the card resulting in Lesnar winning the strap.
I presumed that the course for WrestleMania would get back on track with Rollins winning the strap inside the Elimination Chamber, but I am now not convinced that is the case.
Reports suggest that Seth Rollins versus Shane McMahon was the plan for WrestleMania. This is evidently no longer on the table because McMahon has been sent home.
It's an assumption on my part, but I suspect that Rollins versus McMahon was going to be the WWE Championship match at Mania with McMahon as the challenger. What strengthens my belief is the fact that WWE is teasing that the Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar match could be title versus title.
Reigns-Lesnar being dangled to the fans as possibly being for both the straps makes me believe it will happen.
With that in mind, it's understandable to see the bookmakers trimming Lesnar's odds to win the title next Saturday. However, I'm going to throw out a longshot idea with the road to a title versus title match destination have a slight detour.
What if someone else, other than Lesnar, wins the match? Doing so could set up a WrestleMania night one match in which Lesnar could find himself challenging the WWE Champion - for example: Bobby Lashley (so Lesnar gets his win back from the Rumble) - and that would mean you get Lesnar winning the title on night one of WrestleMania to set up what is being teased on TV: the title versus title match on night two.
I think it's more likely that Lesnar wins the title next Saturday so WWE can spend the rest of the Mania build hyping up the title versus title match. However, I would prefer my idea to play out because it would keep the strap on Bobby Lashley for the time being and allow an intriguing 'chase' story going into Mania.
