A Look At Betting On The 2 Chamber Matches

With the WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 event later today, I thought I would take a look over a few of the markets I've been following for the two chamber matches and point out which wrestlers have been backed.

I'll start with the WWE Championship match because there has been an intriguing descent for what I personally would call an unlikely winner considering current storylines and the tease of a big main event for WrestleMania.

WWE Championship
BetOnline started off with Brock Lesnar a +100 favourite. His price has slowly descended across the eighteen days since I first began to follow movements. He is currently -130.

The only other selection which has lowered in that period is the one for Seth Rollins. After starting out at +250, the price was lowered into +225 sometime before yesterday morning. However. the Rollins price was pushed out to +300 when Lesnar was backed into -130.

Brock Lesnar was a 2/5 favourite when I first began to follow Sky Bet's market on Tuesday afternoon . The price for a Lesnar win had risen up slightly to 4/9 by Thursday morning, but has since backed down to its original odds.

As you'll see, in the table above, Riddle's odds have declined every single time I've made notes on Skyu Bet's adjustments. Noticing this made me surmise that the gambler - or gamblers - may have read a report shortly after the Royal Rumble which claimed that Riddle was one of the names in the running to win the battle royal.

Going by how Riddle and his tag team partner - Randy Orton, were - and still are - in a feud with Alpha Academy, I find it difficult to believe that there is anything to the report of Riddle and the Rumble.

Furthermore, Sky Bet's Money in the Bank 2021 market (see below) also saw keen interest in a Riddle in its early days and nothing became of that. This makes me believe that it's simply a Riddle fan backing his or her favourite.

As I have written in previous Elimination Chamber posts, I believe that Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley are correctly positioned as favourites.

For Lesnar, a win would seal the 'title versus title' match that has been teased for WrestleMania. A decision for Lashley could set up Lesnar chasing the 'title versus title' if he were to challenge Lashley on night one of WrestleMania before going on to face Roman Reigns in the Universal Championship clash the following night.

The latter is a long-shot scenario I thought up a few weeks ago. It would give Lashley something to do for Mania as well as allow Lesnar to get the W back from his loss in their singles match at the Royal Rumble.

I originally thought Seth Rollins would win today. I based that idea on the report that Rollins was supposed to have left Day One with the WWE Championship. However, with Roman Reigns being pulled from the card due to Covid - which led to Brock Lesnar being added to the WWE Championship match and then winning the strap - that plan was held off. I thought that the journey would correct itself with Rollins claiming the strap inside the chamber.

Now, however, I think that too much is being made of a potential clash between two titleholders in the Lesnar/Reigns match. Therefore, Lesnar has to win the WWE Title either today, or somewhere else, before he meets Reigns on night two of WrestleMania.

I should add that I had envisioned Seth Rollins .vs. Kevin Owens for WrestleMania. With it looking possible that Owens could take on 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, I am leaning on Cody Rhodes being Seth Rollins' opponent for Mania.

Women's Elimination Chamber Match
The favourite to win the women's Elimination Chamber match - to secure a title shot against the WWE Raw Women's Champion - is Bianca Belair.

I had her down as a winner for weeks, but - by the close of Raw - I started having doubts.

The reveal of Alexa Bliss as the mystery participant, coupled with Belair winning Monday's gauntlet match - to earn the right to enter the match last - has made me think there could be a chance of Bliss or the iron person of the gauntlet match - Rhea Ripley - winning today.

If you take a look at Kambi's market, you'll notice that - on the afternoon following Raw - the oddsmaker shortened Belair, Bliss and Ripley when the market was republished following Monday's show. It sure looks like they reached a similar conclusion to me after seeing what happened on Raw.

BetOnline's market has had Bianca Belair's price fall from -200 into -275 across four days. As a result, the prices for Liv Morgan and Doudrop have drifted.
