Settling The Men's MITB '22 Cash-In Specials

Austin Theory Wins MITB

Austin Theory's failed Money in the Bank cash-in, which occurred at the close of last night's WWE Monday Night Raw, through a loss to United States Champion - Seth Rollins - means that all of Kambi's Money in the Bank specials will now be settled.

Heading into this year's Money in the Bank event, the sports betting company priced up its annual proposition and specials markets which allow customers to gamble on the eventual briefcase cash-ins.

Liv Morgan's successful cash-in against Ronda Rousey on the night of the event is covered in a post titled Settling The Women's MITB '22 Cash-In Specials.

The settlements meant we had to wait until the male Money in the Bank contract would be cashed in. The scenario played out last night when Austin Theory executed his title shot. And failed.

Coincidentally, I was planning to write a short post sometime this week with a mention that one of Kambi's Money in the Bank specials had passed its cut-off point. Last night's cash-in allows me to get to it first.

WWE MITB 2022 Cash-In Betting Markets

In June, one of the specials created asked customers when the 2022/3 cash-in would occur. The options offered were 'Before/During Crown Jewel 2022' and 'After Crown Jewel 2022'.

The option to wager on 'After Crown Jewel 2022' was an underdog to its opposition. Starting off at 27/25 and rose to 3/1 by the late-June. However, on the morning of the event, I noticed the price had lowered into 5/2.

There are a few markets that would have been graded following Liv Morgan's cash-in on July 2nd.

The proposition market, in the image immediately above, had customers gambling on the prospect of the men's Money in the Bank contract being executed before the women's.

'No' started out as an 11/25 favourite on June 8th, but had risen to 4/9 by the latter part of the month.

The second prop market which would have been settled at the conclusion of WWE Money in the Bank 2022 was one which asked whether or not the men's contract would be cashed in during the show.

'No' kicked off at 7/20. Then, when it became clear that Roman Reigns would not be available for the event, the selection plummeted into 1/16 and finally fell into 1/20 before betting was suspended.

The ironic part about this market is the fact that the cash-in wasn't executed against Reigns or his championship.

Following Liv Morgan's successful cash-in, a second market awaited the result of the male Money in the Bank contract holder's contract execution.

The proposition asked whether both cash-ins would be successful. The winner was 'No', which opened at 13/10 but was reduced into 5/4 three days later.

The losing option - 'Yes' - started out a 13/25 favourite, but was up to 11/20 by June 11th. It remained at those prices right through to the markets closure on the day of the event.

With the cash-in taking place on an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, a market which wanted people to gamble on the 'Show of Men's Briefcase Cash-In' will be settled with 'Weekly TV Show' as the winning selection.

As you can see, the option kicked off as a 2/1 underdog to the 1/3 for the cash-in match to occur during a special event.

You'll notice that the odds for the 'PLE/PPV/Other' fell into 1/4 by June 29th meaning the eventual winner ended up closing at 5/2.

Most important of all, the final market which will be settled is the one which asked whether or not the men's Money in the Bank cash-in would be successful.

It appears as though the majority of bettors initially sided with the 'Yes' because it fell from 2/7 into 7/20 between June 8th and 29th. However, on the evening of June 30th, Kambi increased the price to 4/9 after dropping 'No' from 19/10 into 31/20.

After starting at 9/4, 'No' had a top price of 19/10 for a brief period in the days leading into the event.

Barring a storyline reversal, which won't count in the betting due to end of broadcast rulings for WWE markets, this is likely the end of Money in the Bank coverage for 2022/23.

Upon reflection, whilst also bearing in mind it was initially a Vince McMahon idea, it sure does feel anticlimactic having Austin Theory used as a surprise participant - and winner - of the ladder match only to go on to not only set a new precedent by picking the United States Championship but to also fail.

It wasn't just the briefcase Theory lost over the past few days. His selfie taking gimmick was stolen from him during the main event of Crown Jewel when Logan Paul went one better and did one while jumping off the top turnbuckle onto Roman Reigns, who was laying on a broadcast table.

That's pro wrestling under a new regime for you.
