Studies Show 56% Of The US Rooting For Roman To Reign At WrestleMania XL

Last year, ahead of WrestleMania XXXIX, BetOnline sent me an InfoMap using data from Twitter to suggest that sixty-eight percent of the US was rooting for Cody Rhodes to unseat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

A year, on we now have a new InfoMap from BetOnline using a similar approach of data collection.

WrestleMania XL InfoMap - Reigns .vs. Rhodes

The team at BetOnline looked over 110,000 tweets bearing phrases like 'Cody Rhodes will win', 'Roman Reigns will win' and hashtags like #TeamRhodes and #TribalChief to reach a conclusion which points to twenty-eight States siding with the titleholder and twenty-two rooting for Cody Rhodes.

The majority of interest in a Roman Reigns win hails from Michigan while Maine - according to the research - is Cody Rhodes' strongest State.

This split points to 56% in favour of Reigns. That's surprising because - in 2023, 62% of the US sided with Rhodes and you'd think the majority would once again root for the underdog from a storyline perspective because a lot has been put into the 'Finish the Story' narrative.

From a betting viewpoint, however, Rhodes is far from the underdog.

As of the time of publishing this data, Rhodes is a -600 favourite to do what he didn't do last year and finish the story by beating Reigns.

The titleholder is currently +350.

WWE WrestleMania XL Betting: Reigns .vs. Rhodes

As you'll be able to see, in the table above, the early wagers were on the challenger because Rhodes' price had fallen from -550 into -1,000. However, the most recent adjustments have seen Roman Reigns slide from +500 into the aforementioned +350.
