From a betting perspective, this news - if accurate - has forced me to consider that the 2017 Royal Rumble winner could end up being Chris Jericho.
I have been anticipating the break-up of the friendship between Jericho and Kevin Owens for weeks. I initially thought the pair would duel at the Survivor Series, I then concluded they would separate post-Survivor Series and enter into a feud to close out the year.
Now I'm not so sure.
There's obviously a chance that Kevin Owens versus Chris Jericho is a bout on the Royal Rumble card. However, I'm now open to the potential of Jericho winning the 30-man battle royal to secure a title match against his current best friend.
I have been going back-and-forth on ideas for the winner of the 2017 Rumble. The top two options that I've circled of late have been John Cena and Finn Balor.
On October 19th, I noted that Jericho's price to win the battle royal had fallen from 50s to 33/1 and suggested the reasoning behind the move was due to the slow build towards a schism between Owens and Jericho. I didn't think it would build to WrestleMania, but today's news has now made me second guess this thought.
For what it's worth, the best price available for Chris Jericho to win the Rumble is 33/1 at Betfair.com, 33Red.com and other Kambi Sites.
I think Jericho will start accidentally costing Owens matches soon with the final straw at this PPV and that will lead to owens vs jericho at royal rumble. But this is definitely worth a punt incase! I see its 22/1 now
ReplyDelete16/1. Paddypower now has best odds
ReplyDeleteNope.
DeleteHe's still currently 33/1 over on the Betfair Website
Oh damn. £2.40 per 24 hours though... Guaranteed he is 15/1 or less tomorrow
DeleteFinn balor is also advertised for the event
ReplyDeleteThe reports I've read have cast doubt on him being ready for the Royal Rumble, so this might be out of the question.
DeleteI also remembered you can bet on who will be in the main event for Wrestlemania via betfair. Jericho is only 10/1 though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I don't think it'll be the main event.
DeleteIF it happens.
DeleteLittle off topic but I'm also struggling to think of an opponent for The Undertaker this Wrestlemania too.
DeleteI can only think of John Cena , but I think he will be going for his next title win at Wrestlemania.. so I'm really not sure.
It would be cool if Kambi put up 'Who will wrestle Undertaker at WrestleMania?' odds to see what the list looks like.
DeleteI'd actually really like it if a bookies would open an early 'Who will be The Undertaker's opponent at Wrestlemania 33?' with a hopeful 'If The Undertaker does not have a match, all bets are void'
DeleteI'm sure they would be automatically voided if he doesn't wrestle at the show.
DeleteDon't suppose you have any way to request the market with them?
DeleteNot directly, I'm afraid.
DeleteI've asked PaddyPower to see if they will. Fingers crossed!
DeleteThey've told me they will have it closer to the time
DeleteWhen we already have a firm idea..
DeleteMhm..
DeleteKambi would have been the better option considering they've done similar markets in the past, but it's difficult to get in touch with the traders there.
DeleteWe might get a hint as to what Undertaker is up to on the 900th episode of Smackdown, so this would have been the best time to have put something up, imho.
DeleteMakes me think he will face someone on the Smackdown roster. Just can't imagine who... Maybe it really will be Cena
DeleteUnless The Undertaker wins the Royal Rumble and sets up..
DeleteThe Phenomenal One vs The Phenom
Just had a right idea!
ReplyDeleteUndertaker beats AJ at royal rumble to win WWE Title.
Cena wins the RR.
Cena vs Taker at wrestlemania.
If cena wins he gets his 16th title win but taker takes another loss. So quite unpredictable.
Seems good to me!
Scary stuff because that's one of the scenarios I came up with when discussing it with somebody last night.
DeleteWatch AJ interrupt Undertaker on 900th episode now.. Haha!
