Dave Meltzer Reveals WrestleMania 33's Highest Rated Match

This week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has just been published on the newsletter's website. This is an important edition of the weekly journal for some of you out there because it's the issue where its editor - Dave Meltzer - gives his star ratings to the matches that were on the WrestleMania 33 card.

I state that it's important for some WWELeaks.org visitors because - on Sunday afternoon - the oddsmaker who publishes WWE betting markets for Kambi installed two markets specific to Meltzer's grading system.

You can read about their release in this post.

The first market listed was one where customers could wager on the editor giving one of his famous five star (or more!) ratings to any of the bouts on the night. 15/1 odds were being offered on this occurring.

Market number two was a long list of the matches on the card. Customers could predict - or rather bet on - which would get the most stars in the review of WrestleMania 33.

I can confirm that Meltzer has awarded AJ Styles versus Shane McMahon the most amount of stars for this year's WrestleMania.

It received four stars. So, it will be a winning bet for the clients who sided with that match. With four being the highest amount given, this obviously means the other market - where customers could bet on five or more stars - will be graded as a loss.

In the table above, I have the early prices and then the odds from an hour afterwards. It indicates what the punters liked initially.

The early birds evidently backed two selections strongly as both Roman Reigns .vs. The Undertaker and Seth Rollins .vs. Triple H were both snipped from 5/1 into 4s.

The eventual winner was a selection that drifted out as it went from 10/1 to 15/1 as a result of the oddsmakers readjusting the market.

I knew this match would end up being rated the highest after listening to Dave Meltzer's appearance on this week's Ross Report podcast. However, per the blurb on the websites offering these markets, wagers could only be graded on what was printed in the newsletter. It's all official now, so you should get paid as soon as the trader is aware of the results.

I hope the oddsmakers publish similar markets for future WWE events. As noted in Sunday's post, I have wanted a betting firm to publish a market like this for many years. It was a welcome surprise to see this available on Sunday afternoon.

A list of casinos and sportsbooks that had these markets can be found On This Page.

    1. No worries.

Bets have been settled as well.

  2. Meltzer probably got a huge payday out of this. I bet he hopes they do this for every PPV. Easy money for him. One of these days, we're going to see a Jinder Mahal match get 4 stars as Meltzer laughs his way to the bank.

    1. I repeat: He CANNOT bet on these markets as the websites do not accept clients in the USA.

He also has more integrity to do something like this.
