Indianapolis Aiming For WrestleMania And How It Affects A Mania Prop

I read an interesting article on the Indianapolis Star website earlier this week where a source noted that he was hoping to have WrestleMania in the city for 2020 or beyond.

It led me to look back at a wrestling prop market that websites like 32Red has been accepting, on and off, since last spring.

The oddsmakers at Kambi have a 'WrestleMania in London?' prop where clients can bet whether or not England's capital city will host a Mania before the end of 2020.

I wrote about this market on March 19th 2016. At the time, 'Yes' was available at 6/1 while the 'No' was a 1/5 favourite. I noticed the 'No' had been backed into 1/20 by June. 'Yes' had drifted to 7s.

As the image above shows, 32Red's WWE Betting Page now has the 'No' at a far shorter 1/100 with the 'Yes' now right up at 10/1.

The Indianapolis Star article mentioned that it was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the last time WWE brought WrestleMania to town. The current mayor - Joe Hogsett - played a key part in bringing the event to Indy. He was secretary of state at the time.

Another person quoted in the article is Chris Gahl - a senior vice president of Indianpolis' tourist agency, Visit Indy. He mentioned that Indy lost out to New Orleans in the battle to host next year's WrestleMania but did suggest that he planned to 'open bidding for 2020 and beyond in the coming months'.

If this turns out to be the case, and Indianapolis is successful in its aim to host the 2020 edition of WrestleMania, this would rule out London from hosting WrestleManias 34 (New Orleans) and 36.

The only way a bet on the 'Yes' would be a winner is if WrestleMania 35 (2019) is held in London.

As I've written in previous posts where I've covered these markets, I highly doubt the event will make it to these shores before 2020. The odds continuing to fall in favour of the 'No' prove there are many more out there who agree with this.
