Daniel Bryan Cleared To Wrestle Again

WWE has just announced that Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared to return to action after being forced to retire due to concussion issues in early 2016.

Daniel Bryan Cleared To Return To Wrestling

This news should result in Bryan making his long-awaited return to a wrestling ring months before many expected.

It will also mean a couple of specials betting markets that had been available from the Kambi oddsmakers will be settled as soon as he steps foot inside the squared circle to compete in a match.

It should go without saying that the most likely return date will be April 8th at WrestleMania 34.

Here's how the betting went.

When the market was first installed in November, 'Before/During WrestleMania' - for the timeframe where Bryan returned to active competition - was installed at 9/4 and closed yesterday at 3/4.

The favourite was 'Between September 28th 2018 and WrestleMania 35'. This would have covered the period where Bryan's WWE contract is due to expire. It opened at 2/5. Despite shortening a number of times across the months it was available, it rebounded back to 2/5 before its closure.

A second market, where clients could predict which promotion would book Bryan's return to action, will surely be settled in favour of 'WWE'.

As you can see, the eventual winning selection went from 2/1 to 1/2 from November 17th right up until yesterday evening.

In October, I wrote about a handful of Daniel Bryan specials that were available from Paddy Power. The firm was offering the following:

Daniel Bryan to compete for NJPW before end of 2018 11/8
Daniel Bryan to appear at a Ring of Honor show before end of 2018 9/4
Daniel Bryan to fight in an official WWE match before the end of 2017 7/1
Daniel Bryan to appear on TNA before the end of 2018 10/1

I wrote back then that I had doubts WWE would allow Bryan back inside its ring and was against backing him to have an official match by the end of last year.

The other three selections, despite looking unlikely, are still in the running until Bryan puts pen to paper on a new deal.

  1. I think we may end up seeing Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania?

I can imagine Shane coming back and saying "I'm going to undo Daniel Bryans decision to fire you, for one reason only : *announces new match at Wrestlemania*

    1. Pretty excited for Wrestlemania this year, the card is massive and a fair few results I can see going either way.

Do you think we will see Undertaker next week during/after Cena's match with Kane?

    2. I'd guess so because it's the penultimate show before Mania and they need to have Undertaker accept the challenge.
