Done. Correctly.

On Monday, I published a post titled 'If. Done. Correctly' where I wrote about how I felt WWE ending Asuka's undefeated streak to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania had put an end to an idea I thought WWE would run with for next year's WrestleMania:  Asuka versus Ronda Rousey with both wrestlers' streaks on the line. When I had the opportunity, I kept hinting that this is what they should do.

It got quite repetitive. Another thing I kept writing, since last summer, was that 'when the first-ever women's Money in the Bank contract is cashed in, it has to be a success to get the gimmick over'.

Well, I struck out with the Asuka/Ronda theory. I didn't with the other.

For those of you who watched last night's Smackdown, you'll be aware that Carmella cashed in her immediate title shot on Charlotte Flair, after the Smackdown Women's Champion was attacked by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. It resulted in the first-ever women's Money in the Bank contract execution being a success.

Last night's result made me think back to Sunday June 10th of last year when there was peculiar activity on Paddy Power's 'Successful/Unsuccessful Cash-in' market as it saw the 'No' backed into 1/18.

Women's Money in the Bank 2017 Proposition Betting

It was baffling to see the 'No' plummet to this level, but - by the following Tuesday - it became obvious why the odds fell.

Carmella's win during the Money in the Bank pay-per-view was cancelled out because James Ellsworth had assisted her. The match was replayed a week later resulting in Carmella claiming the briefcase on her own.

Carmella Tweets Following Her MITB Cash-in WinI believe it's safe to state now, as I did back then, that those who knew what was going to happen at the PPV, and on the following Tuesday's Smackdown, believed that Carmella's initial win would result in the 'No' being settled as a winner.

It was a case of them misunderstanding the rule of the bet because there was no 'cash-in'. It didn't matter that the briefcase was held up and the match was replayed. What mattered was WHEN the cash-in took place. Not that the first win would be voided out because of the controversial end to the match.

Their mistake helped a lot of people who knew that the first-ever Ms. Money in the Bank had to be a winner. 7/1 was a great bet, so well done to those who nabbed it.

Logical thinking won this one.

I'll publish another post later in the week where I'll cover how Kambi's Money in the Bank specials were - if you pardon the pun - cashed in following last night's result.

  1. Congrats to everyone who backed it!! Finally happened.

It was very weird seeing the "No" fall this heavy. I actually thought for a second Carmella was going to cash in the same night she "won" it and Becky, Naomi etc was gonna come out and ruin it for her, hence the "No" winning. So glad that didn't happen since the first women's anything shouldn't fail (I'm looking at you Asuka!)...

I still think it was really dumb for WWE to allow Ellsworth to climb up the ladder twice and get the briefcase both times.

    1. I wasn't convinced that they'd do the cash-in during the MITB PPV because the odds for it were still at 7/1 when the Successful/Unsuccessful prop moved.

  2. Also David, do you know if any bookies will be releasing a superstar shakeup odds? Like odds on certain superstars changing brands etc?

    1. I didn't see any last year. If there's anyone out there who would, it's the guy from Kambi.

    2. No worries. If guy from Kambi decides to read this - please release odds, haha!
