2 New 'Champion After' Markets Published During The Royal Rumble

Two new 'Champion After' markets were published by Sky Bet as the WWE 2019 Royal Rumble event was in progress on Sunday night.

The first was a special where clients could place bets on who they believe will succeed Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE United States Championship.

This market was installed not long after Nakamura regained the strap from Rusev on the event's Kick Off.

The former champ was a 2/1 favourite when I first came across the market in the early hours of yesterday morning. He remains at this price.

A wrestler who has seen interest - and I am actually in agreement even though I haven't bet on him myself - is Mustafa Ali, who has been cut from 6/1 into 5/2.

Ali has replaced Andrade 'Cien' Almas as second-favourite. Almas' price has been increased to 3/1.

As I was watching the PPV in the early hours of Monday morning, I took a punt on Sky Bet's market for the successors to The Miz and Shane McMahon's WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship to be The Bludgeon Brothers. They were 12/1. I had heard that both were almost ready to return and thought that they would have been ideal opponents for when Miz and Shane lose their straps and begin their own feud as the Bludgeon Brothers could spin off into a different program from there.

A little over two hours after my wager, Erick Rowan made his return to assist Daniel Bryan in the WWE Championship match against AJ Styles. It was here any chance I thought my wager might have had perished.

The market is still showing the same pricing as Monday morning. The New Day is favoured at 2/1. The former champs are in second at 3/1 and then the unbranded Heavy Machinery is 4/1.

I really did believe I had a good bet on The Bludgeons...

  1. Dean Ambrose announced not renewing contract after April... makes me think wrestlemania will end with Roman reigns, seth Rollins and dean Ambrose hands held high.

  2. Agree that Ali has US Title written all over him ... unless he goes back to finally win that Cruiserweight Title at WM
