Smackdown Tag Championship A Betting Favourite To Next Change Hands And More

The Smackdown Tag Team Championship has become a betting favourite to be the next title to change hands in a betting market from Sky Bet.

This move is very likely due to the news that one of the present titleholders - Jeff Hardy - suffered a leg injury last weekend.

As far as I'm aware, the severity of Hardy's injury hasn't been disclosed. I've seen reports ranging from it being something that will only keep him out of action short-term all the way up to needing surgery and - therefore - the title will likely be moved from its current holders.

The selection was 13/2 when I last checked in yesterday afternoon. It is now 1/2. The previous favourite - the one for Raw's tag straps - has risen to 3/1 from 11/10.

All but one of the other selections on the list have also increased since I checked in yesterday. You can view the changes in the table below.

Even though Hardy is likely injured and the title could potentially be stripped from The Hardy Boys, it's worth noting that bets will be settled from when it changes hands. Therefore, if the straps are declared vacant, the market is still in play until the moment when a title next changes hands. Another championship could be lost/won before new titleholders are determined for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship.

For what it's worth, Heavy Machinery are 6/4 favourites to succeed The Hardys for the championship. They've been at 6/4 for at least the past couple of days after dropping from 9/2.

The team that makes the most sense to yours truly is Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura. I backed them when they were at 4/1 last week, but it was mainly a bet because Cesaro, from The Bar, is now on Raw and Big E (from The New Day) is out injured and - by process of elimination - Rusev and Nakamura is, to my eyes, the most likely team on the list to be the next champs following the current titleholders.

Being heels to the babyface Hardys was also a reason why I felt they had a chance of being the next in line for the title.

Rusev and Nakamura is currently 2/1.  You can view all of the other selections, and their prices, below.
