New 'Champion After..' Markets From Sky Bet

With some of WWE's titles changing owners at Extreme Rules 2019, the oddsmakers from Sky Bet have published new 'Champion After..' markets where clients can place wagers on who they believe will succeed the respective titleholders.

In this post, I'll go through the new markets and point out the favourites in each and - where applicable - I'll mention any selection that grab my attention.

Smackdown Tag Team Champions After The New Day
The bookies have Heavy Machinery 6/4 favourites to be the next Smackdown Tag Team Champions following The New Day. Next on the list are the previous champs, Daniel Bryan and Rowan at 3/1.

WWE Intercontinental Champion After Shinsuke Nakamura
The market in which customers can place bets on Shinsuke Nakamura's successor as Intercontinental Champion has Ali as a 5/4 favourite. Even though I haven't bet on him, it's understandable to see Ali at the top as there was a tease of a feud between the two when they met backstage during a segment on this week's episode of Smackdown.
Aleister Black as an 11/8 second-favourite is another one I get. In fact, I think I'm going to back him as soon as I finish writing this post.
Previous champion - Finn Balor - is 5/1. It is worth noting that there are reports he'll be taking a hiatus from the company once his SummerSlam commitments are done.

WWE US Champion After AJ Styles
Ricochet is an even-money favourite to regain the US Championship from AJ Styles. Also in the mix is Rey Mysterio at 4/1.

WWE Universal Champion After Brock Lesnar
The market for Brock Lesnar's successor as WWE Universal Champion has Seth Rollins at the top. He's at EVS.
I've been overthinking what could happen with Lesnar and I've backed a handful of names other than Rollins because I have a feeling this will be a long reign.
The names I've gone for are Ricochet 20/1 (It's a gamble on the brief interaction between them on Monday night being intentional for the future), John Cena 33/1 (I'm still going with the idea that Cena will get the seventeenth title win), Kevin Owens 16/1 (already backed Owens to win the Royal Rumble when I thought Lesnar versus Owens for the WWE Championship could be a Mania match if Owens' babyface run continues).

I'll write more about the markets in future posts.

  1. I think it will be Owens vs Bryan for WWE title

Remember this was the planned match for this year's Wrestlemania

    1. Would be interesting to see if they go there a year after the fact.

Who would be the champ and how do they get there? I'm guessing by your recent posts that Owens is champ after beating Orton and they get Bryan as the challenger?

    2. I have it as

      1) Orton Beat Kofi

      2) Roman beat Orton

      3) Bryan wins WWE title inside Elimination chamber

      4) Owens beat Bryan

But the problem with my prediction though, I strongly believe Roman will be in a world title match at Wrestlemania
