On this morning's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio (available via subscription at F4Wonline.com), Dave Meltzer acknowledged rumours on whom will take on John Cena for the US Championship at Hell in a Cell tonight. The two names brought up were Samoa Joe and Tyler Breeze.
The Newsletter editor noted that 'the rumour in LA is that it'll be Joe but he's in Sacramento'. He went on to point out that a flight between the two cities isn't long and went a little further to suggest that we'll have a better idea in the morning (west coast of America time) because Joe is scheduled for a meet-and-greet in Sacramento on Sunday. The suggestion is, if Joe is at this fan event, he's unlikely to be at Hell in a Cell later that day.
'It's probably not him, but that's the rumour going around.'
Co-host, Bryan Alvarez, asked Meltzer what time the event took place. The response was 'noon' which led Alvarez to comment that he has 'loads of time' to make it to Los Angeles for the match. Meltzer shot that suggestion down.
What this means is it'll be a telling signal if Joe does not appear for the scheduled event today.
The other name, Tyler Breeze, was brought up to the main roster this past week. The editor suggested the possibility that Breeze is brought in to the equation to win the US Title in order to have his feud with Dolph Ziggler be for the strap.
If you were to look to bet on either wrestler, then the suggested spots to place your wager are Betfair.com and bwin.com.
Betfair is offering Tyler Breeze at odds of 7/2. In contrast, he's a 6/4 (3/2 on-site) favourite with bwin. So, the value is taking Breeze at Betfair.
The Samoa Joe prospect is currently showing at 16/1 with Bwin. He's a short 5/4 with Betfair.
For the record, I have placed bets on both wrestlers and taken the best available odds.

Samoa Joe is a good shout. If you think; Cena is not advertised until after Boxing Day and believe me from previous experience, if they do not advertise Cena; he ain't showing up!
ReplyDeleteTherefore they are obviously going to give Cena and 'injury' story for the next couple of months so you'd think it would be a heel who accepts the challenge and just injures Cena to win - possibly with aided interference.
At 25/1 on PP - Strowman is not worth ignoring. Kofi Kingston possibly aswell as he's the ND member who has not challenged Cena - reeling from losing their tag titles in the opener, could be a good shout too.
Good call. The only reason why I don't think they'll go this route is because Cena will have to gain revenge upon his return.
DeleteAccording to reports, they're grooming Strowman for Undertaker at WrestleMania, so they'll want to keep him strong between now and then.
I also like the Kofi spot, too!
I did put in a request for Luke Harper odds to be available aswell at PP. I agree with your comment about Strowman, I can't see them putting the US title on him but stranger things have happened - plus his odds have shortened to 20/1.
ReplyDeleteI hope they put it on Cesaro as he really needs a push but it seems like he has an 'exciting feud' wit Stardust on the horizon so we can all look forward to that!
I've just published something about the US Champsionship odds and given you a shout out for drawing my attention to their availability.
DeleteI'm hoping it's Joe because I have a few pounds on him with bwin.
