Going Over The Ziggler/Breeze Result One Last Time

It has now been over a week since I suggested the possibility that the Dolph Ziggler versus Tyler Breeze result from the Survivor Series was a late change. In that time, something has caught my attention that may (and I mean MAY) be a sign to indicate that Ziggler was originally planned to win that match.

If you're new to this story - on Survivor Series Sunday, Dolph Ziggler's odds on winning the bout against Tyler Breeze went from +120 to -350 in the period when a flurry of wagers came in on the eventual winners on the night.

As we all know now, it was Tyler Breeze who ended up winning the match.

My theory of the result being switched came to me when I was going through the results of the show sometime last week. To highlight this point, it's worth listing the other victors on the night:

- Goldust, The Dudley Boyz, Neville and Titus O'Neil in the Kick-Off match
- Roman Reigns over Alberto Del Rio
- Dean Ambrose over Kevin Owens
- Ryback, The Usos and The Lucha Dragons in the second traditional Survivor Series match of the night
- Charlotte over Paige
- The Brothers of Destruction over The Wyatts
- Roman Reigns over Dean Ambrose
- Sheamus over Roman Reigns

Do you notice that every match - other than the final - had babyfaces winning?

What I surmise is that Ziggler was down to win as well, but someone realised that only one match on the night had a heel winner, so the decision was made somewhere between 10:45pm and 12am GMT that one of the results had to be changed.

I state this because Breeze's odds was as high as +260 at 12am GMT but had descended to +190 by the time the pair squared off. Could this have been those that had backed Ziggler coming back in on Tyler Breeze?

It isn't definitive, but it shouldn't be discounted.

  1. When I saw the winner of the second traditional survivor series match-up I knew Tyler Breeze was going to win going off the same assumption that no heel was going to win at the ppv so put my money on Tyler Breeze on both Sky Bet and Betfair. Also there were reports that Sheamus had not been chosen to win the title till mid Sunday and the original plan could have been his team to win the traditional survivor series but then changed for them to lose and make Sheamus look weak when the decision was made on him winning the title and that led to Tyler Breeze winning his match? Could be some food for thought!

    1. I read that about Sheamus not being decided upon until the morning of the show. However, I think they must have been going back-and-forth on him as far back as the Monday and Tuesday before the show because they didn't have him appear on Raw and Smackdown.

When I saw him in that Survivor Series match, I thought my bet on him cashing in was done for.
