As of the time of writing, the firm is accepting wagers on a handful of specials. In this post, I'll go through each market individually and share my thoughts and inform you of the bets that I have placed so far.
Rey Mysterio's Longest Ring Time Record To Be Broken
The oddsmakers are offering 10/1 that any of the participants in the Rumble match will break the 1 hour 2 minutes and 12 seconds that Rey Mysterio lasted when he won the 2006 Royal Rumble. In a post published yesterday, I noted that this market was available elsewhere. However, the 10/1 being offered by Betfair is the best price in comparison.
It's worth considering this option as Rey Mysterio has now left the company, so they might try and have the record broken in order to have the new name instead of Mysterio's when they do the video package with Royal Rumble stats for 2017.
1st Time Winner
This is another market that is available elsewhere. Betfair is offering the value, though. The firm has 3/1 that the victor will be a first-time winner.
I don't think this will be the case, but it's there for anyone out there who believes otherwise.
Any Diva To Be A Participant In The Rumble
This is going for 13/2 and will pay out if any of the entrants are female. It has happened before with Chyna and Kharma, but I don't think we'll see it for another few years.
Fastest Elimination
This is a three-way, The odds are:
1.9 seconds or less 8/1
2-60 seconds 4/7
61 seconds or higher 5/4
In my opinion, there's bound to be a wrestler who lasts less than a minute. I'm happy to bet on the 2-60 seconds.
Longest Elimination Streak From A Superstar
There are three options here as well. You're betting on the highest number of eliminations achieved by the wrestler who goes on the longest elimination streak. They are:
1-5 eliminations 4/7
6-11 eliminations 11/10
12 or more eliminations 12/1
I'm middling again. I like the 6-11 because I find it hard to believe they'll beat Roman Reigns' streak of 12 for quite some time.
Highest Number Of Superstars In The Ring At The Same Time?
Another three-way. This time you're betting on what the highest number of entrants will be in the ring at the same time. The options and odds are:
9 or less 11/8
10-16 4/6
Over 16 5/2
My head is telling me to play it safe by going for the middle again. But... I am tempted to play over 16 so will bet that.
Entry Number Of Winner
In this market, you're betting on the position that the eventual winner will come out in. The odds for the positions are listed below. They're followed by some thoughts.
1) 10/1
2-5) 15/2
6-10) 13/2
11-15) 11/2
16-20) 7/2
21-29) 8/15
30) 4/1
This past week's episode of Raw was great because it appeared as if they finally pulled the trigger on Roman Reigns. I thought we had the World Championship tied up for WrestleMania season. I have been suspicious that this will turn out to be a Dusty finish since Tuesday morning (see second paragraph). The more I see plugs for the upcoming episode of Raw, the more I am concerned that the giant steps the company made on Sunday and Monday will be compromised with an angle where Reigns' title win is cancelled out. I hope this isn't the case because it would be a backwards step. However, if this is the direction, I would not be surprised to see the Royal Rumble winner being declared champion.
I can also see Roman Reigns being given the number one spot in the Rumble. Therefore, I am making a speculative punt on the 10/1 with entrant one before this week's Raw because the odds will fall if the scenario I have played out above does take place.
The other situation I have predicted is the one I would rather happen: Reigns keeps the strap and has to battle the League of Nations right up to the Royal Rumble. He defends the championship against Sheamus and wins. This will force Triple H to go into the Rumble match as a last resort to claim the title shot in order to take the title from Reigns himself (because he's better than the League of Nations and can get the job done, you see). If this story plays out, he should be the thirtieth entrant for the 'surprise'.
I know I'm covering both ends of the spectrum. I hope we have a better idea what's going on by the end of this coming Monday's Raw.
My Bets
Here's what I have bet on so far:
- Rey Mysterio's Record To Be Broken at 10/1
- Fastest Elimination 2-60 Seconds 4/7
- Longest Elimination Streak 6-11 11/10
- Highest Number Of Entrants over 16 5/2
- Position 1 to win the Rumble 10/1
- Position 30 to win the Rumble 4/1
