In this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote about the upcoming Royal Rumble and put out a few names from his list that might end up winning.
I'll list the key names below and share some of the points he made for each. I'll also share with you the best prices that are available for each person in case you'd like to have a punt on any of them.
Brock Lesnar
The editor speculated on the possibility that Lesnar could be used as The Authority's hitman. He did make it clear that this is not the direction he was led to believe everything was going and mentioned that Lesnar would make more sense as a challenger rather than as the champion.
Best Odds: Lesnar's best price over here is the 3/1 from SkyBet.com. Visitors who can bet with 5Dimes.com can pick him up at +185.
Roman Reigns
Reigns is currently the bookie's favourite and Meltzer writes that Reigns 'could overcome the odds and win, but given he's constantly gotten the better of The Authority, the idea that he starts early, is there at the end, and gets screwed by them, would build up a direction'. A lot of people will agree with this idea - I also thought about this on Tuesday when I wrote that 'Even though he (Reigns) now sits on top of every bookmaker's list, he's far from favourite in my opinion.'
Best Odds: 17/10 available from Paddy Power's Royal Rumble Page
Triple H
Meltzer noted that that he finds it hard to believe that the angle to set an upcoming HHH .vs. Reigns match seemed a bit too heavy for it to be at Fast Lane.
He absolutely does not rule out a WrestleMania bout between Roman Reigns and Triple H, but seems to be leaning more on a bout being used as a set up for Mania via Fast Lane.
Best Odds: Triple H can be backed at 2/1 with SkyBet.com or WilliamHill.com
Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan is the fourth of five names. Meltzer made it abundantly clear that Bryan's name exists as a possible winner if he does get the medical go-ahead to compete and there is no evidence to support the possibility he will and there have been no WrestleMania hints that this is where things are going.
Best Odds: 18/1 from Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page
Sheamus
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion is the final name on the list put out by the newsletter's editor. Put it this way, Meltzer will not like this scenario playing out if Sheamus ends up winning the title again in a little over two weeks. The funny thing about this is it makes sense if the HHH .vs. Reigns match really is going to play out at Fast Lane as Sheamus could defend the strap in another match on that card.
Best Odds: 33/1 from Ladbrokes.com
And there you have it. There are a few names that I have already backed, but there are some that I have placed small stakes on after reading this week's issue.
You do great work. Fair play
