John Cena Injured

John Cena has suffered a shoulder injury and will go under the knife today.

This news had been reported online in the early hours of this morning and was confirmed via John Cena's Twitter account shortly afterwards.

It seems that the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania floodgates have been opened yet again.

Cena was one of the two wrestlers I had at the top of a list of potential Royal Rumble winners. The other being Triple H.

My instinct that HHH would wind up being victorious in the battle royal had began to wane recently what with the announcement that The Rock was returning to WWE in time for WrestleMania and that the company did an off-camera interaction/tease with Cena and Reigns when the final Raw of 2015 went off the air last week.

It'll be interesting to find out if a Triple H versus Roman Reigns match was originally scheduled for the Royal Rumble, but has been pushed back due to the situation with John Cena.

If this is the case, and it's simply me throwing out speculation, then it does strengthen the chances that they'll go with HHH as the Rumble winner.

There are still other possibilities going forward. The best odds for those who I consider have good chances of winning - in order - are:

Triple H 6/1 WilliamHill.com
The Undertaker 33/1 WilliamHill.com
Brock Lesnar 7/2 PaddyPower.com
Roman Reigns 6/4 SkyBet.com

I've also had a small wager on The Rock at 66/1 with Ladbrokes.com. I have a low expectation on him being in the match let alone winning it. However, I thought 66/1 was worth a speculative punt.

  1. I was thinking yesterday that perhaps Cena winning it all along would be the right option.
I always said that for Reigns to be truly over in front of 90k at Mania (half of which are blog marks who would boo him) would be to have him take the gold from Cena.
I thought that's prob why they changed the Rumble so that Cena could win the title and face Reigns at Mania (after Reigns defeats HHH at Fast Lane for the right to a rematch). That's all blown now though.

Brock is advertised at Fast Lane so assume he'll pick up a feud at the Rumble

    1. I think the decision to change the Rumble to being for the title was a result of the Cena injury.

Before that, I thought they'd keep the title on Reigns and then go with Cena challenge him for the Championship but fail. Similar to how HHH came in as a challenger to John Cena's Championship at WrestleMania 22 and he symbolically passed the torch without losing a title in the process.

    2. Hmm...yeah maybe!
Am I blind or has Betfair taken the WWE market down? I know it was all suspended after the Jericho announcement but are they still shit*ing themselves? Lol

    3. This occasionally happens when the person in charge of the WWE markets isn't around. They're usually back up within a few hours.
