Bwin's Battleground 2016 Odds For July 12th

The oddsmakers at bwin.com have republished their betting odds for the upcoming WWE Battleground 2016 pay-per-view.

Here are the prices as of 3pm BST today along with some notes and thoughts.

The Miz versus Darren Young is a new addition to the sportsbook's coverage of the PPV as the match was announced last night after the latter won a battle royal to become the number one contender to Miz's WWE Intercontinental Championship.

I don't know if I am going to bet on this match, but - if I do - I'll take Young otherwise the 'Make Darren Young Great Again' segments, and his association with Bob Backlund, have been a waste of time. He doesn't have to win the title, he could get a cheap disqualification or countout victory.

The odds for Kevin Owens' and Sami Zayn's 'Final Battle' had been available prior to today. The odds were the same then.

This is another match that I am unsure whether to bet or not, but have the feeling that - if this is the end of the feud for the time being - the babyface should win, so that's another outsider I have pinpointed and I've only just started.

The triple threat match has also been available previous to this afternoon. The odds for Dean Ambrose have improved slightly while Seth Rollins is back down to the price he was on June 21st (3/1), Roman Reigns has now moved into second-favourite. He had been 6/1 when I last checked in on June 29th.

Next week's episode of Raw will see Seth Rollins challenge Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title. I'm guessing the match will end controversially in order for fans to tune in to Smackdown the following night. I had been predicting Battleground's triple threat match would end with the title in limbo, but it could very well end up happening as early as Monday now. I'm still refusing to bet on a winner in the three-way because my intuition is still leaning on there being a double pin so the title ends up being split.

The market for The Club versus John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass is also a new addition to bwin.com. The traders have sided with the babyfaces here and I cannot argue that one. I have bet on this market with another bookmaking firm that opened with them as outsiders. They have since been moved into faves.

The New Day and The Wyatts is still unconfirmed for Battleground. However, they've been doing too much on TV for it not be added to the card in time for July 24th. This is technically a new market as the previous New Day versus Wyatts pricing was dependent on it being a match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The current odds cover the possibility of it being a six-man with no titles on the line.

Rusev versus Zack Ryder, for the US Championship, is another new market as the bout was confirmed on last night's Raw. I can't see beyond Rusev getting the W, so the odds are in line with what I would expect a Rusev retention would be.

If you'd like to bet on any of these selections, the markets can be found under 'Entertainment' on the sportsbook menu at bwin.com.

  1. Interested to see how that Ryder Rusev line moves, if it does at all. I have this weird feeling that Miz will retain and Ryder might walk off with the US title and split those between the two brands.
