WrestleMania Betting : The Shaq Question

I have recently been asked whether I still think Shaquille O'Neal will feature in a match at next year's WrestleMania.

The answer is the same as it was back in April: Yes!

This positive feeling I have in O'Neal being a part of the WrestleMania 33 card has only strengthened with WWE working an angle on the red carpet of the ESPY Awards earlier this month.

A few days ago, on Instagram, O'Neal noted that it was the seventh anniversary of his one-night stint as Raw GM by publishing a picture of himself and The Big Show. He added: 'IM COMING FOR YOU BIG SHOW' (sic) along with the image.

This isn't being done for nothing. If he was working his own angle, WWE wouldn't have acknowledged anything on its website.

WWE has wanted a Big Show versus Shaq match for years. On top of this - Orlando is the venue for WrestleMania 33. For those of you unaware, Shaq started his professional basketball career in the city. It's the perfect venue.

From a betting perspective, the odds on O'Neal being in a match at WrestleMania 33 have been fairly good for the most part. If you had backed him from the ESPY angle up to yesterday evening, you could have picked the 'Yes' at 6/5 at Betfair.com. The odds have now shortened to EVENS. So, it's still the 'outsider' choice despite everything pointing to him being in a fixture on next year's card.

I've placed a bit of cash down on the 'Yes' ever since the market opened. I am absolutely not worried about losing this bet. If, by February, there isn't any talk of Shaq appearing at Mania, I'll admit to having lost. Until then, it's very much in play.

The market can be found alongside other WWE-related markets in the 'Special Bets' section of the Betfair Sportsbook at Betfair.com.
