Sheamus & Nakamura Backed To Be Conor McGregor's WWE Opponent

On August 14th, I published  a post where I looked through Conor McGregor WWE betting specials that were installed on the weekend that Conor McGregor had wound up countless members of the WWE locker-room.

The markets were priced up for customers to bet on McGregor doing business with WWE at any point between the time of the bet and the close of WrestleMania 33. The odds were removed a number of days later but were republished this weekend. Here's what I've noticed.

A market where clients can punt on McGregor simply making an appearance on a live WWE broadcast has moved out from 2/1 to 3/1. Another that will pay out as a winner if McGregor has a WWE match at any point between the bet being struck and the close of Mania 33 has also been increased. It is now 6/1 from 4/1.

The main McGregor market is one where punters can predict his opponent.

There have been two names that have had evidently been backed. They are Sheamus and Shinsuke Nakamaura. The latter has moved down from 7/1 to 5/1 while Sheamus has shortened the steepest. He went from 7/1 to 3/1.

In the August 14th post, I mentioned that I was skeptical of McGregor targeting WWE in his media appearances. I felt he was working his own angle, but went through the list of names available to wager on and pointed out Sheamus as a possible choice. If, and it's a big 'IF', McGregor is in a match, he'll have to win. Therefore, it's unwise to even consider someone who's protected like Brock Lesnar.

The bettors seem to have the same mentality as the traders have moved Lesnar's odds out from 6/4 to 2/1. CM Punk's number moved in an identical fashion to Lesnar's.

John Cena - who started off at 5s - is now out at 6/1.

The image below shows how the prices have been adjusted.

Prices correct as of September 4th. When available, the markets can be found on the websites listed on THIS PAGE.
