I'll go through each market individually and share some thoughts.
Brock Lesnar .vs. Bill Goldberg
I've started with the main match of the night, because the market is still showing the same odds as yesterday morning. For those of you who don't know - Brock Lesnar is 2/9 and Bill Goldberg is an 11/4 underdog.
5-on-5 Males
This market has flipped. The opening favourites were the Raw Team as they were priced 8/11 while their opponents from Smackdown were out at EVENS.
Smackdown can now be backed at 8/11 while a winning punt on Raw will double your money.
I cannot understand why Team Blue has been backed.
On the most recent episode of Smackdown, The Undertaker threatened the home team that - if they lose - he'll be out for them. In my opinion, this will lead to The Undertaker versus AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble. Smackdown losing makes for a better long-term story.
5-on-5 Females
The Raw ladies have been backed from 6/5 into 8/11. The Smackdown team has improved for the punter by going from 4/7 to EVS.
I think the fans are betting the wrong side here as the Smackdown women's division would benefit from going over their Raw rivals.
10-on-10 Tag Teams
This market hasn't changed. The Raw side is 4/11 while Smackdown is 15/8.
I've already suggested that Smackdown takes the 5-on-5 females, so - in my mind - I think they'll go into the male 5-on-5 meeting with both brands equal on elimination bout wins, so have to give Raw the nod here.
Kalisto .vs. Brian Kendrick
This one has been going the way of Brian Kendrick as his price has dropped from 7/2 to 5/2 while Kalisto's number has been upgraded from 1/6 to 1/4.
I have a feeling Kalisto will get the decision via count-out or disqualification, so I am once again against the Paddy Power customers.
If Kalisto is victorious, the cruiserweight division will move over to Smackdown. With the new WWE Network cruiserweight show being filmed live on Tuesday nights, it makes sense for the crew to move over. Unless I'm mistaken, count-out or DQ win for Kalisto will keep the strap on Brian Kendrick but should send across the cruiserweights.
Sami Zayn .vs. The Miz
The customers have been siding with the WWE Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, as his price has dropped from 7/2 into 9/4. Sami Zayn is now 3/10 from 1/6.
With Zayn, from Raw, taking on The Miz from Smackdown - the storyline here is that an Intercontinental Championship win for Zayn will move the title over to Raw. I'm sure there are many out there who believe that, if Kalisto sends the cruiserweights to Smackdown, that the Intercontiental Championship will end up being sent to Raw. However, I don't think this is how it will play out.
I have a feeling Miz will get the W to retain the strap and keep it exclusive to the blue brand. I am guessing this will then set up a post-Survivor Series storyline where Mick Foley will be used as a scapegoat for Raw's loss of the cruiserweight division and the inability to choose the a successful challenger to snare the Intercontinental Championship from Smackdown.
We only have a few more days until we find out for sure whether the customers have selected the winning sides.
Odds correct as of 11:55am GMT. All of the markets can be found on Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page.
Have to agree with you the tag matches. It seems set that RAW are winning the men's match as a means to set up Taker-AJ. I've been convinced of RAW winning the tags since the match was announced and SD winning the women's, it'll benefit them more and there's no way its 2-0 headed into the men's match.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see I'm not the only one who thinks this. The Paddy Power customers have me worried!
DeleteI imagine the men's and women's match betting is a reaction to the RAW men and SD women standing tall on this weeks shows and the old trope of looking strong heading into a PPV = losing. The Taker thing especially HAS to lead to RAW winning that match.
DeleteI think team SD will win final match. Stephanie said that "you should fight like yours jobs depend on it, because they do" - i think it was important (they also use it in youtube promo).
ReplyDeleteAlso team RAW has Braun (who never loze), 2 champs, shield members.. and SD has Shane. On RAW team SD was beaten.
They made SD looks like heavy underdogs. And in WWE underdogs very often
I think Taker can fight AJ no matter team SD win or loze.
Then RAW Women Team have to win their match to equalize loss from Male's team.
DeleteIf it was me I'd have SD win.....this would give them a boost since they are secondary to Raw and plus have Bryan help Miz win his match
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the "To start for" odds - why were ambrose/reigns/new day etc deemed rank outsiders to start for their teams?? surely its a lottery and everyone should be fairly even...
